JEN, HOST: Hanson, welcome to Cleveland!

ISAAC: Glad to be in Cleveland.

ZAC: Thanks for having us.

JEN: Look at you, you’re all like, in unison. You’re all like, right down. This is awesome.

TAYLOR: We have to find our way down to this mic.

ZAC: You guys don’t have any seats. Or there’s only like, two seats.

JEN: There’s only two seats.

TAYLOR: It’s okay.

JEN: We weren’t prepared for a three person interview.

TAYLOR: Knees were made for a reason.

JEN: Well, you look great. You’re doing great, my God. Here’s what I cannot believe about Hanson. Any time you guys come to Cleveland or our town, people are psychotic about you. I will have women—grown women—calling me, emailing me, begging me. “Oh my god, please tell me there’s a meet & greet with Hanson, please tell me there’s a way we can get into the show!” They’re calling, they’re lining up at the door so early. And this has been how many years of success you guys have seen now?

ISAAC: It’s been ten years.

ZAC: We have incredible fans. Still, I’m always blown away by how many people come and line up and sleep before shows on sidewalks and things like that, so we can never give them enough credit for what they do and letting us do something we love for this many years. Like Ike was just saying, it’s basically ten years on a national stage since our first major release and we’ve been a band for about 15 years just independently. So, you never give them enough credit for letting us do what we do.

JEN: And have you ever like, surprised or done anything like crazy like walked up, like when people are waiting in line? Do you ever kind of do something special for fans like that?

ISAAC: Well, one of the things that we’ve done that was really crazy and we did this in Cleveland when we were last there, played the House of Blues.

JEN: Yes, I remember.

ISAAC: Really great venue, and always have a great time playing in Cleveland but we did 1 mile walks in every single city across the United States, we did 48 1-mile walks. They were all barefoot. We walked through downtown Cleveland barefoot.

JEN: You did?

ISAAC: Yes, and the reason why we did it is because we were trying to raise awareness for poverty in Africa.

TAYLOR: the other thing about that is it’s about connecting directly with your fans. Fans joined us mile after mile. A lot of people would come to shows, multiple shows, they’ll travel, which is totally cool cos every Hanson show is different, it’s never the same. But doing those we went all the way from walking in blistering heat--

ISAAC: Literally getting blisters.

TAYLOR: …painful to watch but we did it too, we walked barefoot too, but all the way up to snow, 5 degree weather ,people were still going. I think for us it was just the idea that we’d join them, we’d do the same thing, we’re all going to do this together.

ISAAC: We’re not afraid of doing crazy things in the name of that.

TAYLOR: Walk out in front of the venue and just go, “Hi, how’s it going?” And a lot of times people would not expect that to happen.

JEN: Scream crazily and pass out I’m sure. Well, you guys are dong amazing things and it’s such a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for taking time out to talk to Cleveland today!

TAYLOR: Thanks.

JEN: We’re live at the Grammy Awards, it’s Q104.
