PAST APPEARANCES Regis & Kathie Lee
09 December 1998REGIS: My gosh! How long has it been since Hanson has been with us, 2 or 3 years now?
ISAAC: Probably almost two years.
REGIS: Almost two years?
ZAC: No…
ISAAC: Or has it been that long?
KATHIE LEE: Have you guys gotten a haircut since then?
ISAAC: Yeah, several.
KATHIE LEE: Maybe a couple haircuts then.
REGIS: This is Isaac, there’s Zac, and there’s Taylor. It’s nice to have you guys back on the show. And incidentally, Taylor is turning 16 in March. That’s a big deal.
KATHIE LEE: Sweet 16!
REGIS: And the big deal is you’re learning how to drive.
TAYLOR: Sort of.
KATHIE LEE: When do you have time to even cruise around?
TAYLOR: Well, I mean we just kind of drive out somewhere…
ZAC: It’s Oklahoma, the land of flat.
ISAAC: There’s plenty of opportunity to drive places, we’ve just stayed away from driving with him.
KATHIE LEE: Very smart. Who’s teaching you, dad?
TAYLOR: Dad, mom, you know ,whoever.
ISAAC: It’s pretty straightforward, you know. Actually, the first thing he drove was a friend’s truck, it was a stick, so that’s more than I can say for myself, I didn’t drive a stick first.
TAYLOR: Yeah, something I can knock into anything and it wouldn’t matter.
KATHIE LEE: You wanted to take the test in that, a stick truck.
REGIS: That’s really a test. And how are you, Baby Hanson? *crowd boos*
KATHIE LEE: He’s not the Baby Hanson!
REGIS: Well, he’s the youngest one!
TAYLOR: Youngest of the group.
KATHIE LEE: of the group, cos there’s four…
REGIS: There’s 7 Hanson kids.
ZAC: I’m fine.
REGIS: No, you look great. You always have a beautiful smile.
ZAC: Thank you.
REGIS: Seven kids all together, right?
ISAAC: Yes, seven kids.
REGIS: And the whole family goes on tour. Will you get a chance to go on vacation? Where did you go on vacation this year?
ISAAC: Well, during the tour we went to a lot of different places. We went to Mount Rushmore… the cool thing was, when we showed up in Mount Rushmore and they’d just closed the place.
ZAC: Like, 10 minutes late!
TAYLOR: It wasn’t vacation.
ISAAC: Yeah, it was during the night.
KATHIE LEE: It’s awesome though, isn’t it? To see it at night?
ZAC: We’re like, “No, there’s like, 80 people here! We’ve got to turn it back on!”
TAYLOR: We pulled up there in all our busses and they’re like, “We’re sorry, we just closed.” This sucks. Cos we’d been driving, trying to get there before it closed.
REGIS: Did you tell them who you were?
TAYLOR: Well, they opened it up for us.
REGIS: They did?
ISAAC: Yeah.
TAYLOR: Ended up opening it up and turning on the lights and it was really awesome.
KATHIE LEE: Did you guys see Crazy Horse too? It’s awesome.
ISAAC: We haven’t seen that but we’ve heard tons about it. I’m sure it’s great.
KATHIE LEE: You’ve gotta go back. It’s fabulous!
REGIS: Where else have you been?
ISAAC: Umm, also during the tour we went to Niagara Falls. Unfortunately it was one of those things where everything was at night. You’re driving from show to show.
ZAC: Everything is closed down and you’re in a car driving across Niagara Falls going, “Wow…”
KATHIE LEE: You guys are being cheated out of seeing this nation!
TAYLOR: It was very cool though, cos everything was always closed down and we were able to just roam there.
ISAAC: And it was actually a good chance to just see it when it’s not as crazy.
KATHIE LEE: But you guys can’t go anywhere anymore, can you, with any anonymity?
ISAAC: Um not, it’s really actually not that bad.
TAYLOR: You just go in groups of friends or something like that.
ISAAC: We don’t really worry about it.
KATHIE LEE: When you’re separated do people leave you alone any more?
ISAAC: No. no.
KATHIE LEE: Are you like Greta Garbo at this point? Do you loooove to be alone or are you enjoying everything that’s happening to you?
ISAAC: I think it would be hard not to enjoy it. We’re doing what we’ve always wanted to do; we’re getting to do music all the time and that’s the best thing I can think of.
REGIS: That’s nice. And incidentally picked up an award Monday night from Billboard Magazine.
ISAAC: Yeah, we presented an award for the best female artist.
REGIS: Oh, you presented an award.
ISAAC: Yes, we were presenting.
TAYLOR: We were there.
ISAAC: Yeah, we were there and we presented, we got to meet several different people. Presented to Shania Twain…
TAYLOR: She’s great.
ISAAC: Yeah, a very, very pretty lady.
REGIS: Very attractive.
ISAAC: Yes she is.
ZAC: She’s really nice, too.
REGIS: She’s not for you!
KATHIE LEE: She’s married!
ISAAC: We actually met her a while ago.
ZAC: You’re too old!
REGIS: You’re right!
KATHIE LEE: Well, it’s sort of impossible to have relationships though at this point, right?
ZAC: No.
KATHIE LEE: You got some news for us, big guy?
ZAC: I don’t have one, but no. It’s not impossible.
KATHIE LEE: Difficult?
ZAC: Difficult.
KATHIE LEE: Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
ZAC: Yes. Very true.
KATHIE LEE: Being coy with us!
REGIS: Alright, so we have two albums, not one but two albums and one of them is a Christmas album. We have our tree up, trying to get in the spirit. You have a number from your Christmas album?
ISAAC: Yes, we have a number from our Christmas album and it’s an original song that we wrote, it’s called “Everybody Knows The Claus.”
REGIS: Alright, fine, when we come back we’ll hear the Hanson’s sing their Christmas song.
