Z100
11 May 1998

CUBBY: Oh yeah! Welcome to Hanson Live. I'm your host Paul "Cubby" Bryant. We're beaming off the top of the Empire State Building from Z100 in New York City. Hey, for the next 90 minutes you have a chance to talk in, hang with Isaac, Taylor, and Zac, plus hear some great tunes from their brand new album "Three Car Garage." Hanson Live. You want to talk to Hanson, call 1-877-HAN-SON1 and to prove they are here they are going to say hello to you right now.

TAYLOR: Hello to you right now!

ISAAC: Uh... hello, yeah...

ZAC: Hello to you right now!

TAYLOR: We are Hanson and you are listening to Hanson Live.

CUBBY: Exactly guys, welcome.

TAYLOR: Thank you.

ISAAC: We are happy to be here and I would like to say right now that... I'm not... sure what I'm saying.

TAYLOR: Okay [laughs]

ZAC: And I want to say hello to green Jell-O.

TAYLOR: Yeah... yeah that was something that some loyal fans asked us to say.

ISAAC: And I would also like to say...[weird voice] Midwest. Okay, sorry, that was just a weird thing...

CUBBY: Now we've got Isaac, Taylor, and Zac… and I'm sorry. Should I call you guys by your nicknames now? Ike, Tay... but, but wait... Zac, do you have a nickname?

TAYLOR: Zac is Zac.

ZAC: Zachary.

CUBBY: How about just Za?

TAYLOR: We can call him Za... well that would be kind of...

ZAC: or Caz.

TAYLOR: We can call him Caz, that's his name backwards. Its Caz, Yat and whatever Ikes' name is backwards.

ISAAC: Eki, I think.

TAYLOR: Ki, it would be Ki... [to Ike] Hey, Ki. If we are getting really familiar then we could...

ISAAC: Whatever... whatever, you know.

CUBBY: Guys, can you describe in a nutshell the last two years of Hanson? Or the last year and a half for that matter... I mean, it’s been a whirlwind.

ISAAC: Uh, well, if I were describing it in a nutshell it would be kind of hard considering I can't get in a nutshell because I'm a little too big. [everyone laughs] But, If it were a large nutshell I would attempt it and then I would probably... okay... whatever... I don't know what I'm saying again.

TAYLOR: It’s gonna be hard to describe it in a nutshell. I think it’s just been a very awesome year and hopefully we will have more awesome years, you know.

CUBBY: What were you doing May 11, 1996?

ISAAC: May 11, 1996?

TAYLOR: We were performing at Mayfest, which is a festival...

ISAAC: 1996? 1996? Was that true?

TAYLOR: Yes, we were.

ISAAC: Ah, that’s right.

TAYLOR: Err... no we, we were probably recording this album then... yeah, we would have been recording Middle Of Nowhere actually.

ISAAC: Or about to record it, yeah.

CUBBY: Some parts of the album were already done though from the independent release, right? Is it all new?

TAYLOR: Umm... it’s all... Middle Of Nowhere was new versions, but Three Car Garage this album that we are re-releasing, no it’s totally different versions.

CUBBY: Yeah, you know it’s funny, Three Car Garage is earlier material... what was it, recorded in the womb?

TAYLOR: A lot of people say that. The thing is, this is our second album. So that would mean Middle Of Nowhere would have been our third. So it wasn't like... we have been recording for a while.

ZAC: So, in other words, we recorded two albums in the womb!

TAYLOR: If that's what you're calling it... if that's what you're saying.

ISAAC: Uh, no. This is recorded in late '95 and early '96. It was our second independent record. It was the music that got us signed. And...

TAYLOR: And it was what we promoted to Mercury and to different record companies trying to get us signed, yeah.

ZAC: And that was one of the reasons we released it because we wanted the fans to hear what Mercury heard and what all the labels heard when we were trying to get signed.

CUBBY: Well, actually the reason for Three Car Garage being released is partly due to the fans…

ISAAC: Oh very much, definitely due to the fans. Yeah, because we had so many requests for the record. "When are we gonna be able to hear it?" "When are we gonna be able to hear the original versions of these songs?"

TAYLOR: I mean, really, I guess you can say... It wasn't really our idea almost. It was almost all the fans...

ISAAC: It was the fan’s idea really.

TAYLOR: ...so they can get kind of the inside track and hear what we did before.

CUBBY: Well, of course tonight we are going to be hearing cuts off of Three Car Garage. Comes out tomorrow. Go out and buy that at your nearest record store!

ISAAC: Hey, you said it... I didn't.

TAYLOR: Well... that was a promo right there.

CUBBY: But until then, I know this sounds weird to say, but how about some old Hanson? [laughs] Let's play "Weird" from that old album. By the way, very cool video. What was the whole concept of that whole video? You're like, in the water....

TAYLOR: Yeah, it’s based around... if you have seen it or not it’s based around a subway because of one of the first lines talks about being on a runaway train. So, we thought it would be cool to get to base it around that. Gus Van Sant directed it and we basically came up with the idea and talked to him and he was really psyched about it and we used some cool special effects like swimming through a train filled with water and it was very cool to make it.

ISAAC: And it’s actually very weird when you said, “Let’s hear some old Hanson” because actually it's new Hanson...

TAYLOR: ...that's old. So it…

CUBBY: ...gets confusing.

TAYLOR: It gets very confusing.

ISAAC: You know, people keep talking about the... supposedly the "new" record, which is not really a new record because it's...

ZAC: Three Car Garage and it's old!

CUBBY: Exactly.

TAYLOR: This is so confusing. I'm totally like… I… I'm very confused.

*PLAYS “WEIRD”

CUBBY: Who requested all this junk food by the way?

TAYLOR: [laughs] We didn't do anything.

ISAAC: You know, actually I was thinking... I'm sitting here, drinking a diet pop and I'm going... You know, this is absolutely disgusting. [Cubby laughs] Whoever invented diet stuff? I mean, it has no calories...

CUBBY: Look how healthy you guys are...

ISAAC: But it tastes like it has no calories!

CUBBY: Look how healthy you are gonna be, Isaac.

ISAAC: These calories things... they go right through me, man.

ZAC: [deep and sultry voice] We're Hanson and you’re talking on Loveline.

CUBBY: That's right. What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?

TAYLOR: Late night Loveline...

CUBBY: You want to talk to Hanson, 1-877-HAN-SON1. Let's take a phone call. First one of the evening, Julia from California. You're on the air with Hanson.

JULIA: Hi.

ALL: Hi, Hi Julia.

CUBBY: You have a question for the boys?

JULIA: Yeah, umm...What time is your CD coming out tomorrow? I want to be the first one to buy it.

TAYLOR: Wow. You’re right on... umm...

ZAC: I do not know.

TAYLOR: It comes out the 12th, so, I guess it just depends... It comes out tomorrow, so I guess it just depends on what store, what record store you’re going to.

CUBBY: You know people are lined up out of a record store somewhere.

ISAAC: Well... I hope so. I mean, that would be very cool.

TAYLOR: Umm... I guess it just depends on what time the record store opens. So... [laughs]... thanks for being psyched about the record.

CUBBY: How about people for the fan club... maybe you can get them...

TAYLOR: Well... well the fan club you can definitely get special stuff, but the record does release tomorrow and that's the first time you will be able to get it. So...

CUBBY: We are going to Toni, down there in Alabama. Toni, you're on the air with Hanson.

TONI: Hi.

CUBBY: Hi Toni.

TONI: What's up?

TAYLOR: Hey Toni... what's your question?

TONI: Umm… before you were famous and everything... did you have like, special nicknames or anything like that?

ISAAC: Uh… no, no special nicknames.

TAYLOR: We were always Ike, Tay, and Zac. Those were always our nicknames, so that's never changed.

ISAAC: Yeah.

CUBBY: Bye bye Toni!

TAYLOR: See you!

CUBBY: Mariel, listening to us here at Z100 in New York City, you're on the air with Ike, Tay, and Zah!

TAYLOR: And "Zah?" You mean "Caz."

CUBBY: I just created a new nickname for him. I like "Zah."

TAYLOR: You like "Zah," it sounds kind of like a--

ZAC: I sound like a--

ISAAC: I think we should call him Colby.

ZAC: I saw...

CUBBY: What'd you just call me, Colby?

ISAAC: Or something like that.

CUBBY: Kobe plays for the Lakers. Call me Cubby.

ISAAC: That's actually what we're gonna call you is "Colby."

TAYLOR: We're gonna really confuse you. Throw you off.

ZAC: So now, Kobe, when did you get out of basketball and into radio?

CUBBY: Okay back to the caller! Mariel, what's up?

MARIEL: Hi.

ISAAC: Hi.

TAYLOR: Hi.

CUBBY: This is your big shot here.

MARIEL: Okay, I'm really nervous so, all right. Um--

TAYLOR: Don't be nervous.

MARIEL: Sorry. All right, how does it feel to know that half of America's got you guys' pictures hanging up all over their room?

TAYLOR: Oh wow, I didn't know! God! You just made me nervous! Um, I don't know, I think it's really cool… I mean, that people bought the record, I mean that's really what we're psyched about.

CUBBY: Actually, Taylor, do you have a picture of your band hanging on top of your bed?

TAYLOR: No, I do not.

ZAC: NOOOOOO WAAAYYYYY!!!!

TAYLOR: I think it's awesome. We could... I... um... we would not be able to do it without them. All the people out there who do that. But I do think it's kind of scary when a lot of people send pictures of their walls and it's really wild, so...

ISAAC: It's like, “Wow, I didn't know people took THAT many pictures of me!”

TAYLOR: It's pretty scary, but it's awesome… I mean, it's just...

CUBBY: Taylor, describe your bedroom. What posters are hanging in your bedroom?

TAYLOR: Uh... right now? Nothing.

CUBBY: Zac, nothing?

ZAC: Absolutely nothing.

TAYLOR: We kind of go through cycles, you know? Where you strip it down, start over, strip it down, start over. So, it's kind of in the strip it down mode now.

ISAAC: We're not big… we're not actually big poster people, really.

CUBBY: I just still have a Farrah Fawcett from like 1975 hanging in my bedroom.

TAYLOR: I think you need to do a revamp.

ISAAC: However, I guess it could be a good picture, and then that wouldn't be bad.

ZAC: Every once in a while, you need to, you know, re-tune up your car engine. I think your car engine needs re-tuning.

CUBBY: How many posters are there? Of, you know… if you're a huge Hanson fan and you wanted to get every poster out there, do you know off the top of your head how many posters out there are there?

ZAC: No.

TAYLOR: The thing is a lot of it out there is...

CUBBY: Bootleg?

TAYLOR: ...based around magazines giving away posters so you know... we're not putting out all those posters, but you know, what can you say?

CUBBY: All right, we're gonna go to Julia… actually Julie in PA, you're on the air with Hanson!

JULIE: Hello?

ALL: Hi Julie!

JULIE: How you guys doing?

ALL: Good!

ISAAC: So uh...

ZAC: What's your question?

JULIE: Okay, what is the craziest thing a fan has ever done to meet you?

ISAAC: Ooh, uh... well...

TAYLOR: The craziest thing...

ISAAC: Hmm... I think… well… people actually hang out outside the hotel quite a bit, so that happens. But I guess that's not so crazy.

CUBBY: You ever get nervous though?

TAYLOR: Well, there's definitely crazy moments… like when you're at a concert and you're trying to get out and there's fans outside.

ISAAC: Nervous about fans being outside the hotel and stuff like that?

CUBBY: Yeah, like maybe it gets a little bit weird, like they're hanging out TOO much?

TAYLOR: No, it's not… it's not… the thing is like, none of our fans are there to kill you or something, you know, it's not like...

ZAC: I love you so much, you're DEAD, you!!

TAYLOR: No, I think it's just, I think it's cool that you have fans that are willing to hang out that long just to get to meet you and we always like to get to say “Hi” when we get out of the hotel or somebody's waiting or something like that, so that's what it's about.

CUBBY: Now you might remember this, this is a great story… I know we love talking about this. Z100, here in New York City, remember we did that little promotion at Paramus Park Mall? It was a mall in NJ, it was a year ago last week--happy anniversary, guys!

ZAC: Thank you!

CUBBY: It was a year ago last week. We estimated that a lot of people were gonna be there, we didn't think, what about 8000 would show up at the mall? When I first got there I thought it was a line for Cinnabon. I went "Oh my God, will you look at this!" and they're all here to see Hanson! I mean, were you guys amazed? Zac, you were getting like your jacket pulled off.

TAYLOR: That was... that was the beginning...

ISAAC: It was pretty nuts.

TAYLOR: It was awesome.

ISAAC: The thing for me was the fact that it was SO loud.

CUBBY: Yeah, you were getting mad at me for saying… you were saying, "Don't ever say our name again."

ISAAC: You would be like…

ZAC: "DO YOU GUYS KNOW THESE PEOPLE?!" EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

TAYLOR: And we were like "Stop! Stop! Stop!"

ISAAC: I don't know how all of us came out with our hearing, period. You know, with the screaming and stuff, so…

CUBBY: I tell you what, all the calls we've had so far, we've had a Julia, a Julie and here's another Julie. It's like Julia night. Uh Julie, from MD, you’re on the air with Hanson. Say “Hi” to the guys!

JULIE: Hey Tay. Hey Ike. Hey Zac.

ISAAC: Hello.

TAYLOR: Hi, you've got our names down.

ISAAC: Yeah.

JULIE: Okay, I'm like a huge fan and everything so…

ALL: Awesome.

JULIE: All right… first of all let me say that I'm going to your concert, definitely.

TAYLOR: Cool. Very cool.

JULIE: Um, I just wanted to ask, what kind of music did you guys used to listen to?

ISAAC: Uh… we, uh...

TAYLOR: Okay, are you a real true Hanson fan? Psycho fan?

JULIE: Oh yeah.

TAYLOR: If you are then you... then the answer to that question you would already know! But the answer to it is rock & roll, really 50's and 60's you know, early 70's rock & roll music. And that's really the music that inspired us most. But still we listen to all kinds of stuff that's out right now.

CUBBY: What's in your CD player right now? Guys, go around the room. Zac first.

ISAAC: Actually, a band that I want to get a hold of... what's... what's...

TAYLOR: The name of... there's a song by a band called Fastball. Which I really like, it's a cool song.

CUBBY: Oh yeah. “The Way.”

TAYLOR: Yeah. I think it's a really cool song.

CUBBY: People compare that to The Wallflowers kind of sound.

TAYLOR: I think it's different though, I think it's... I like it. I like the song a lot. I like the video too.

CUBBY: You know what song I love a lot?

TAYLOR: What?

CUBBY: “River.”

TAYLOR: “River?” You like that song?

CUBBY: That was a good segway way, wasn't it?

TAYLOR: Oh man! Well, that's a song from our new album Three Car Garage, you can buy it tomorrow!

CUBBY: Never been heard until right now are you guys ready?

ZAC: It's the...

TAYLOR: This'll be the first time on the radio. Whoa-a-a-a! This is a song that we did, we recorded a couple years ago... um... it's off our new album, Three Car Garage, old album, actually, so um, we did it in a garage...

ZAC: In a ONE car garage.

TAYLOR: One car garage.

ISAAC: Yeah so...

ZAC: Here it is, “River.”

CUBBY: It's on Hanson Live.

PLAYS “RIVER”

CUBBY: Hanson Live, and that is brand new, it's called “River” from Three Car Garage.

TAYLOR: Oh yeah!

CUBBY: From the CD that comes out tomorrow!

ZAC: And you are on Loveline!

TAYLOR: What is this Loveline thing?

CUBBY: Zac, you're really into this Loveline stuff. I think you have a problem that you want to talk about.

TAYLOR: It's like late night and you should have a guy with a really low voice like…

ZAC: [deep voice] Now, what's your problem?

CUBBY: Here's what we're gonna do, we're gonna come back with some more--

ZAC: [high southern accent] Well, my baby's leaving me and I think he's going out with my girlfriend...

TAYLOR: [southern accent] Hey girlfriend, what you need to do is you need to talk to that man! You tell him he's yours!

CUBBY: We need to take these malt balls away from Zac here, I think the sugar's getting to him.

ZAC: Well, we decided we need to be like...

CUBBY: Welcome back, we're on Hanson Live! Isaac, Taylor, and Zac!

TAYLOR: Live, with Hanson!

CUBBY: You might know them as Hanson.

TAYLOR: In the ring!

CUBBY: What's going on? Man! Welcome back.

ZAC: Um, we're gonna have our next caller and he is Bobby.

CUBBY: No, no, actually...

ZAC: [voice of Bobby from Bobby's World Hi Bobby!

CUBBY: You want to read it...

ZAC: I'm Bobby!!!

CUBBY: No Zac… go ahead, read it! Katie...

ZAC: KAPUSHNICK!!!

CUBBY: No, Katie!

TAYLOR: Oh, this is Katie. This is Katie.

CUBBY: Katie, from Philadelphia. She's listening to us on WPST. What's going on, Katie? Are you there?

TAYLOR: Katie!

KATIE: Hello?

ALL: Hi, how are you?

KATIE: Good!

ISAAC: So, what's your question?

KATIE: Well, first of all I'm totally thrilled to have gotten through and be talking to you guys because the lines have been absolutely clogged.

TAYLOR: We're totally thrilled to be talking to you too!

KATIE: And um… I just wanted to ask if you guys are coming to Philadelphia on your tour because I would absolutely go to your concert.

ISAAC: Um… unfortunately I don't think we'll be making it to Philadelphia this time around. However, what's happening is we're trying... we're doing kind of a short tour this summer and then we'll be going back into the studio for our next album and then we're gonna be doing a more extensive tour.

TAYLOR: It's... I mean, we're very psyched about doing a lot of shows. There's a lot of people that we're gonna be missing which we're very bummed about. This time around. So Katie, we will look for you when we're back in Philadelphia/ But it's really just a short tour that we're gonna be doing this summer so we can get out and play a few shows and we're very psyched about being able to play a lot more once the next album comes out.

CUBBY: Now Taylor, over the summer you're going to be going back to Tulsa… back home, right?

ALL: Yes, we will be going to Tulsa.

ZAC: Katie, we will be going to Washington so maybe you might be able to come.

CUBBY: That's close.

ISAAC: Yeah, it's close.

CUBBY: It's like an hour and a half drive from Philly, or two hours.

ISAAC: Yeah, so maybe she can make it there, hopefully.

CUBBY: All right, let's go to Rachel, in Michigan. Hello Rachel, you're on with the guys!

RACHEL: Hey guys!

TAYLOR: Hi Rachel!

RACHEL: Uh, what's up?

ISAAC: Uh, nothing much… how about you?

RACHEL: Uh, pretty good. This is kind of… cos earlier this evening my friend from New Jersey was like, "Oh, here's a number that you can call to call Hanson" and I was like, "What?"

TAYLOR: Whoa. Cool.

RACHEL: So, this is kind of unexpected but my question is... um, I want to get into the music business and...

TAYLOR: Uh-huh.

RACHEL: I have really no idea like what to do and my family has not ever been like in the music business so...

ISAAC: Yeah...

RACHEL: Do you have any advice?

ISAAC: Well, I recommend finding out exactly what you want to do in the business and really... there's a lot of hard work involved. I mean... like anything you have to love what you're getting into, but there is definitely a lot of work in yet, and you just kind of have to go for it.

TAYLOR: We're not really in the music business. We just play music, so we don't like to say we're IN the music business so…

CUBBY: You get like, a check for having fun.

TAYLOR: Yeah, well...

ISAAC: Something like that.

CUBBY: It's never work though.

ISAAC: There's definitely a lot of work involved.

TAYLOR: I don't know, it depends if like you're singing or if you're in the record business, like working at a record company or something.

CUBBY: What's the worst part? I mean, dealing with the press?

TAYLOR: With us, it's like everything's a part of it, it's just depends on the day or how much sleep you got the night before, you know.

CUBBY: Let's check out Leslie in Buffalo. Hi Leslie, you're on the air with Hanson!

LESLIE: Hey!

ISAAC: Hello!

TAYLOR: Hi Leslie.

CUBBY: She's a baldifyer [???] Hey come on!! Let's go… let's get some energy here! People have been trying to get through since 4:00 this afternoon and you're finally on the air with Hanson!

LESLIE: Oh, fine. You guys are a little too... happy there.

ZAC: See what it is is we've been having these sugar highs and we have tons and tons of candy here so we're just munching on candy and getting so high...

LESLIE: Sounds good to me.

ISAAC: So, what's your question?

LESLIE: Um, how'd you like making the “Weird” video with Gus Van Sant?

ISAAC: That was extremely cool. We really, really enjoyed meeting him and...

TAYLOR: It was very cool to get to work with somebody who has directed such cool movies and he's very open to working with us and the ideas...the different ideas that we had. So, it was cool to get to work with somebody who's open to just about anything. So, we were definitely psyched about doing that.

ISAAC: And you know, he really facilitated making that video happen… you know, we had a lot of crazy ideas and he went ahead and said you know, "Let's do it."

TAYLOR: Let's just do it, so it was very cool.

ISAAC: And he really made it happen and we... like Taylor said, we really enjoyed working with him, so it was really cool.

TAYLOR: Yeah, it was cool.

CUBBY: Thank you for your call, Leslie.

ZAC: Next caller.

CUBBY: Before we get to the next caller I want to play a little like, Middle of Nowhere music. I mean, we're here to talk about Three Car Garage, the brand new CD, but we love Middle of Nowhere. Before we play “Where's the Love,” how about a little a cappella “Where's the Love,” right here in the studio? Can we get you guys to do that? Or you want some more sugar?

”WHERE’S THE LOVE” a cappella

ISAAC: All right, here's “Where's The Love.”

ZAC: Where's the Love!!!

PLAYS “WHERE’S THE LOVE

CUBBY: Welcome back to Hanson Live, beaming off the top of the Empire State Building here in New York City. Paul Cubby Bryant with Ike, Tay, and Zac!

ISAAC: Hello!

CUBBY: Welcome back guys!

TAYLOR: Ooh, listen to that song, it's… it's spooky. [“Yearbook” plays in the background.]

ZAC: We have decided at the end of the show, we're going to bungee jump off the Empire State Building.

TAYLOR: It's going to be very interesting.

CUBBY: I can't wait!

TAYLOR: Especially the radio station thing, I'm very psyched about that.

ISAAC: The only problem is, radio does not quite capture the bungee jumping experience.

CUBBY: We could hold the mike to you.

ISAAC: AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CUBBY: You ever done that? You ever bungee jumped?

ALL: No.

ISAAC: Actually, we'd like to skydive.

CUBBY: Did you see on Fox, like two weeks ago, it was like "good things gone bad"? And they show these horror stories like a roller coaster getting stuck upsidedown and they showed a bungee...

TAYLOR: It's like, wouldn't you like to have THAT on the radio?

CUBBY: And they showed a bungee jumper and the cord didn't snap back. But they all lived.

TAYLOR: Hey man, that's like making my bungee jumping experience...

ZAC: It's like, "When Couches Attack: Part Three."

ISAAC: Next on Fox.

CUBBY: Now you guys are in New York City right now of course. You're hanging with me... it's living proof, but you're here for a long duration. What do you got coming up, we can see on TV, I believe?

ISAAC: Yeah, we're gonna be doing Letterman actually tomorrow and we're gonna also be doing Rosie O'Donnell and CBS This Morning. It's actually kind of funny cos we were hoping we were gonna be able to do Letterman on the sixth of May rather than the 12th.

TAYLOR: Cos that was the day that was the first time we did it, a year ago. And when the album was released, on the 6th.

ISAAC: It was actually thought that we might release Three Car Garage on the 6th, which, that would have been ironic.

TAYLOR: Yeah, if we released it on the same day we released Middle of Nowhere.

ZAC: [singing] Isn't it ironic?

ALL: [singing] Dontcha think?

CUBBY: What's your opinion of the fans being so… like, they know everything. Like, I got all these emails, "Today is the year anniversary of Middle of Nowhere." I mean, they got all this stuff written down! It's pretty passionate!

TAYLOR: Don't mock the fans, I mean…

CUBBY: No, I think it's incredible! I don't remember what I did yesterday!

TAYLOR: That's okay Cubby, we understand.

ISAAC: I have a hard time keeping track of what day it is.

CUBBY: Exactly.

ISAAC: Like what day of the week. "Is this Saturday?"

CUBBY: Let's take some phone calls. Jen in Vermont! What's going on Jen? Welcome to Hanson Live.

JEN: Hey! How are you?

ISAAC: Just fine, how about you?

JEN: I'm fine.

CUBBY: Cool. You have a question for the boys and guys and gentlemen? What should I refer to you as? As men?

JEN: I want to ask you, what else do you guys want to achieve since you've done so much already?

ISAAC: We have a lot more to achieve... we have a lot left. We look forward to just doing whatever comes up.

TAYLOR: I mean, as Ike said, we definitely have a long way to go. We haven't conquered it all in any way.

CUBBY: You guys ever get nervous?

TAYLOR: Um, just depends. I mean, we're pretty... as much as stage goes, I mean, only sometimes. If you're standing there and somebody's breaking down the barricade, you know, that can be kind of scary but you know.

ISAAC: Yeah, when people are rioting, you know, it's...

TAYLOR: Yeah, people rioting, burning you know, cars, or each other, that would be bad, but...

ZAC: See, no, that's one thing I thought of. You know, if there's bunch of people in the crowd with long hair and you know they've got the lighters and someone drops the lighter. Would everyone light on fire?

CUBBY: Well, if there's gasoline, Zac, on the floor... yeah, there's gonna be a problem.

ZAC: No, but hair goes WHOOSH! And it burns really quickly.

ISAAC: It actually does, yeah. It singes but it doesn't actually catch on fire.

CUBBY: No wait, can I ask Zac a quick question?

TAYLOR: Yeah.

CUBBY: Zac, when do you decide to go with the dreadlocks or just the hair down?

ZAC: Um, whenever we have the time.

TAYLOR: It takes a long time to braid all your hair. I mean, obviously, you don't HAVE much, so--

CUBBY: You know what?! Come on!

ISAAC: You're balding, man!

TAYLOR: I'm just kidding.

ISAAC: All right, it's not actually. We're just teasing.

CUBBY: You're tough on me.

TAYLOR: We're just kind of in that mood.

ZAC: We love you man!

CUBBY: I know, we go way back! Julie, in Illinois. How you doing Julie? Another Julie by the way. You're on Hanson Live!

JULIE: I'm here!

ALL: Hi Julie!

JULIE: Hello. I can barely hear you guys.

ISAAC: Oh yeah?

TAYLOR: Then we'll talk REALLY LOUDLY!

CUBBY: Put that mouth right up to the microphone. Just get that tongue going.

ISAAC: Helloooo.

TAYLOR: Ai-yai-yai, that kind of sounds a little…

JULIE: I got a question for you guys. Are any of your brothers and sisters interested in music?

ISAAC: Um, you know, they are...

TAYLOR: Thank you for not asking if they want to be in the band. That's a very nice thing of you to ask instead.

CUBBY: I'm sure they've asked.

TAYLOR: Well, that's what I mean. Lots of people ask that but um, I think they're... it's kind of hard not to be into music in general, once you're around...

ZAC: I think that when music is a part of your life and it's around you, you...

ISAAC: You can't help but be into it, yeah...

TAYLOR: You can't help but be into it, so I think they're definitely into music, so uh... it's kind of hard not to be.

ZAC: I don't know whether they're gonna play an instrument or not, but they're definitely into music.

TAYLOR: Everyone's into music in some way, so I guess that's kind of a general question I guess you could say.

CUBBY: Who influenced you guys? Or what was your first like when you felt like "Wow, I like music." You heard on the radio, you heard a song on the radio that got you?

TAYLOR: Well, I mean, music is a part of everybody. Think about how much music is a part of everybody--

ZAC: When you watch a movie, if it didn't have music it would probably be a bad movie.

ISAAC: Right. It'd just be like very dull.

TAYLOR: You know, it'd be like, this guy's about to blow his gun, he's behind this guy and he's about to blow his head off and there's no music and you're like, "Oh." You know, cos you got to have some of that “doodoodoo...”

ZAC: You got to have some of that suspense.

TAYLOR: I mean, imagine what Jaws would've been like without that dadadadadada... I mean, then he bites the guy's leg off.

CUBBY: It brings back memories, too, like whenever you hear “MMMBop,” you're gonna think, you know, "Wow. Spring '97, man."

TAYLOR: Cool.

CUBBY: Rebecca from Tennessee. What's going on, Rebecca from Tennessee. You're on Hanson Live. Say “Hi” to the guys.

REBECCA: Hey.

TAYLOR: Hi to the guys!

REBECCA: Hey. I can hardly hear you!

ISAAC: Oh yeah?

ZAC: WE WILL TALK LOUDER.

CUBBY: Oh man, jeez, Zac... what the hell are you doing?

TAYLOR: Well, we'll talk into our mic really loud.

ISAAC: Actually, sounds like we've got like weird connections going on. Can you hear us better now?

REBECCA: Yeah, that's better.

ISAAC: Okay, that's cool. So what was your question?

REBECCA: Um, are there gonna be any surprises or are there any big secrets for your tour?

ISAAC: Um you know... actually, I don't know.

TAYLOR: If it was a secret, we couldn't tell you.

ISAAC: We couldn't tell you. Darn! But actually, you know, it's just gonna be playing a lot of the songs off Middle of Nowhere and Three Car Garage and...

TAYLOR: We'll be playing some oldies, a lot of the songs we talk about, you know, some of the old rock & roll songs that we're very much into. It's just, you know, hopefully it's just gonna be a fun show. And we'll just, we'll be having fun so...

ISAAC: And maybe we will throw in a couple of surprises just for you.

TAYLOR: There's always a surprise. You know.

CUBBY: Thank you for your call, Rebecca. Hey I got this thing here, it's from a magazine. I want to see if these magazines are correct. "10 facts about Hanson." Uh, Hanson lived in Venezuela, Trinidad, and Ecuador. Is this true?

TAYLOR: Yes, that is true.

CUBBY: How did that come about?

ISAAC: Our dad worked for an...

CUBBY: Ah! An oil company! It's right here! Wow, these things are right!

TAYLOR: Hey!

ISAAC: That's 1 out of 10!

ALL: Keep going.

CUBBY: Both parents are musically inclined and mother Diana often sang around the house.

ISAAC: Well...

TAYLOR: Well she didn't sing AROUND the house, she's not that big. It just depends. "Hey man--"

ISAAC: It's kind of like the, "Your Momma's so fat her... her..."

CUBBY: Her blood type's Ragu?

ISAAC: Yeah, or, or "Your Momma's so fat her senior pictures were aerial views."

CUBBY: When her beeper goes off people think she's backing up?

TAYLOR: Or she's got more chins than a Chinese rowboat...

ZAC: Or when she sits around the table…

ALL: She sits AROUND the table!

CUBBY: Uh, the boys were born and when they're not traveling, live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

TAYLOR: Yes, where we were born!

ISAAC: Oh, that's four in a row!

TAYLOR: Hey man, we were born... that is true!

CUBBY: Exactly. Hey, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac were homeschooled by their mother Diana who is a certified teacher.

ZAC: ENGHHHH!!!!

CUBBY: They got one wrong?

TAYLOR: No, she was... she actually is. She taught... she taught sixth grade, I think. I may be wrong. But she did teach, but that really...

CUBBY: What an impact she made on you!

TAYLOR: Yeah, I know.

ZAC: See, she...

ISAAC: Hey, I don't know...

CUBBY: She taught sixth grade I think!

TAYLOR: Well, it didn't really have anything to do with teaching us... I think she just wanted to be more involved and not send us off to school and never see us, you know... it was kind of like that.

CUBBY: All right, that's 5 out of the 10 facts about Hanson. I would say that's what, 4 out of 5?

ISAAC: Yeah, I think that's... yeah.

CUBBY: All right, we'll do the next five next hour.

TAYLOR: Cool.

CUBBY: Yeah. All right. Three Car Garage, new CD comes out tomorrow, let's play a little...

TAYLOR: Old CD, but new CD.

CUBBY: Yeah, the old CD, new CD. We'll take one more phone call and then we'll play a new song from it. We're going to go to uh... Nicole, from Kentucky. Hello Nicole!

NICOLE: Hi.

ALL: Hi Nicole.

ISAAC: So, what time is it there, Nicole?

NICOLE: Huh?

ISAAC: What time is it in Kentucky?

NICOLE: Um, about 9:30.

ISAAC: About 9:30. I think it's about the same time here.

CUBBY: Actually, it’s 10:49.

TAYLOR: It's a little bit, about an hour later.

ISAAC: Okay. Yeah.

NICOLE: I was just wondering if guys would ever be willing to date a fan.

ISAAC: Well, you know what, we probably would...

ZAC: It depends on the person. See but the thing is, once you end up dating the fan, they'd probably be more like a friend.

TAYLOR: By the time that, you know, we have a lot of friends that started off as fans, like you met them at a concert or something like that and you ended up being good friends, so you never know.

ISAAC: And it's kind of strange to actually say that they were fans cos...

TAYLOR: Well, put it this way, you wouldn't just like walk up to somebody and just like, lay one on ‘em, so... you wouldn't just, you know, "Hi, nice to meet you," you know... tongue and all.

ISAAC: That was a little graphic.

TAYLOR: I was just trying to you know, explain it.

ZAC: Thank you for being so graphic.

CUBBY: Well, I have to ask the question: you guys are all single of course.

ISAAC: Yes, we are.

CUBBY: All right.

ZAC: Right now, right now...

ISAAC: But with the way Taylor's talking, you would never know!

TAYLOR: I'm definitely single now.

ISAAC: Hel-lo! Yeah, his girlfriend just broke up with him. Sorry!

CUBBY: Tell us a little about “Speechless.” It's never been heard before.

TAYLOR: I'm speechless. I have nothing to say.

CUBBY: Nothing to say?

ISAAC: Yeah, actually, that's what the song is about. The song is about, actually, someone kind of cheating on you.

ZAC: It's basically about this girl's cheating on you and...

TAYLOR: Well, let's not get on the down side. The thing about this song is a lot of people don't know the other side of Hanson. There's kind of different sounds on the album. This is one of the different sounds. There's much more of like, kind of R&B, kind of funk, groove to it. So you know, it's a little bit different from a lot of the Hanson perspective, most people's perspective of Hanson, so.

CUBBY: And we'll hear it right now, how about that?

ISAAC: Yeah!

CUBBY: This is “Speechless.” Three Car Garage is the CD coming out tomorrow this is Hanson Live!

PLAYS “SPEECHLESS”

CUBBY: This is Hanson Live! Paul Cubby Bryant, beaming from the top of the Empire State Building and yes, “Speechless” is from Middle of Nowhere, want to clear that up.

TAYLOR: Yes, “Speechless” is from Middle of Nowhere.

CUBBY: You know, you have to admit it really is the way... like you said earlier... how the wording is new album, old stuff...

ISAAC: This album...

CUBBY: Three Car Garage, you're talking about...

ISAAC: Three Car Garageis about two years old and the reason we released it was because we had so many requests from our fans, you know, letters and emails and everything, saying you know, "When are we gonna get to hear this music, we really want to hear it." So, we decided to release it. And we spent about four hours a song, you know, mixing and everything, in a one car garage, with an 8 track recorder.

TAYLOR: Not a 3 car garage, we couldn't get a 3 car garage.

ISAAC: Yeah, we weren't that lucky, yeah.

CUBBY: Now what about new music, when are you gonna be getting that out? To the public?

ISAAC: You know, we are, you know, you're always writing songs, so we definitely have new music, but actually recording, we'll start recording...

TAYLOR: Probably after the tour is done. I mean, we're gonna be doing just as many shows as we possibly can over the summer a few in Canada, some in Europe and of course in the states so...

CUBBY: So, will you try out a lot of new songs?

TAYLOR: Um, live?

CUBBY: Yeah.

TAYLOR: Um, I'm not sure. We don't want to give away too many things new, like NEW new, but we will be playing stuff off Three Car Garage, we will be playing some...

ISAAC: We will be playing a couple of songs that people haven't heard...

TAYLOR: Off... maybe off of a new album, actually there is a song we'll be playing that's not on any album. So, you'll get to hear one of those and I think once we finish the tour we'll get back in the studio, you know, we're always writing songs so we're psyched about recording those.

CUBBY: Real quick question before we go to break um, I have to divert from the music talk for one second.

TAYLOR: Okay.

ISAAC: Yeah.

CUBBY: What the heck is Zac doing right now?

ISAAC: Zac is playing tic-tac-toe...

CUBBY: He's playing tic-tac-toe with Twizzlers.

TAYLOR: With Pull & Peel Twizzlers. We just did a promo!

ISAAC: Whoa! Hello!

CUBBY: Hanson for Twizzlers!

TAYLOR: Hey man.

ZAC: Ike has said that I could never beat him, so I…

ISAAC: Yeah, it's an unwinnable game.

CUBBY: Yeah, tic-tac-toe, yeah.

ISAAC: It's, it is you know.

ZAC: Not necessarily true.

TAYLOR: No it is a winnable game, Ike. Someone has to win.

ISAAC: It's unwinnable.

TAYLOR: What do you mean?

ISAAC: It's unwinnable.

CUBBY: Did you ever see War Games?

ISAAC: Yeah, exactly. It's unwinnable.

CUBBY: Right.

ISAAC: It's an unwinnable game. Except when you play through the computer.

CUBBY: It's Hanson Live. One thing is winnable, you can get through. So try hard. You're listening to Hanson Live. It's me, Paul Cubby Bryant. We're back with more music and more Hanson after this!

CUBBY: Welcome back to Hanson Live, time is flying guys! Oh yeah, they're going to bite into their, their chips right now. Paul Cubby Bryant, beaming off the Empire State Building here in New York City at Z100. We're hanging with Hanson. To my left is Ike, straight ahead, Taylor, and to my right is...

TAYLOR: You're confused!

ISAAC: You got it wrong, ha-ha!

CUBBY: Zac, what's going on... Zac is opening his mouth with chips, you know, that's... you're lucky this isn't TV!

ISAAC: Well, first of all you know it's live when he said it wrong, and two, guess what? We're eating chips.

TAYLOR: Yeah, well that's--it's definitely live, that's for sure.

ISAAC: Yeah, we're eating chips.

CUBBY: Um, all right... we're taking a few phone calls. We're gonna go to Shannon in Chicago. What's up Shannon?

TAYLOR: Hey Shannon. Shannon? Are you there?

SHANNON: Hello?

ZAC: Hey Shannon!

SHANNON: Hey, what's up?

ZAC: Welcome Shannon. And you're on Loveline!

SHANNON: Oh my gosh, I love that show.

TAYLOR: Oh yeah?

SHANNON: Okay I just wanted to say on Friday I got your new CD.

TAYLOR: Cool.

SHANNON: Cos it was at the store and...

TAYLOR: Wait, how'd you get the new--how'd you get the new CD Three Car Garage?

SHANNON: I don't know, we were at the store getting a different CD, and we saw this one, and I just bought it.

CUBBY: Ohhhh.

TAYLOR: It's a conspiracy. That's amazing.

SHANNON: It is! But um, I just wanted to know, did your guys' voice all change after this one, or...

TAYLOR: Um, you know, the thing is, even if you listen to this and you think, “Wow, our voices are pretty high,” which we do too, it's pretty weird to listen to old recordings, but...

ZAC: You should have heard the recording before that!

TAYLOR: You should have heard the recording before that, you know.

ISAAC: Actually, to be honest, actually, this one is not much different from Middle of Nowhere, actually.

TAYLOR: It's kind of...it's really over the past year that we've... you can hear the major, the real change, so.

ZAC: And the other thing is, it's a misconception that your voice changes and then it stops. Your voice is changing until you're 21.

TAYLOR: That's getting technical on us, oh God!

CUBBY: Have you seen the Brady Bunch episode of "It's Time To Change?" Ike, Tay and

ZAC: Yeah.

CUBBY: Shannon, thanks for calling.

TAYLOR: Bye Shannon.

CUBBY: We're gonna go to, oh, look at this name--it's Francesca.

TAYLOR: Ooh, I like that name.

CUBBY: From San Francisco. Francesca you're on Hanson Live.

TAYLOR: Hi Francesca!

FRANCESCA: Hi, I was just wondering what inspired you for your songs.

ISAAC: Um... well, um...

TAYLOR: It just depends on what song, I mean, very song has a different inspiration, so um...

CUBBY: All right, let's say “MMMBop.”

TAYLOR: Um, “MMMBop,” we've told the story for that a million times. Choose a different song.

CUBBY: Uh... how about “Speechless?”

TAYLOR: “Speechless...” ooh, that's like...

ZAC: Speechless.

CUBBY: Uh, how about uh... “River,” from the...

TAYLOR: “River” is about uh, um...

ISAAC: It's actually almost based off of real-life experiences, actually.

TAYLOR: It says "I guess I'll never know exactly where this river's gonna flow" it about how you never know-

ZAC: It's about a relationship.

ISAAC: It's about the ups and downs of a relationship.

TAYLOR: So, it depends on what, you know, what song you're writing about. What song you're writing.

CUBBY: Who does most of the writing?

TAYLOR: Everybody.

ISAAC: Yeah, it's very much, it's very much a collaborative effort, actually.

TAYLOR: Right. Every song, definitely.

ISAAC: You know, every song gets started by a different person or something like that.

TAYLOR: You know, one person usually starts a song and the other people kind of join in and say, you know, "Listen to this idea" or whatever...

CUBBY: Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, "Oh, I got an idea! Got an idea!"

TAYLOR: Oh, definitely.

ISAAC: Yeah, actually, yeah. You wake up sometimes and you...

ZAC: See, but the worst part is, when you have this great song and you forget it.

ISAAC: I hate that.

TAYLOR: Aw, that's the worst thing.

CUBBY: It's like a dream you can't remember.

ZAC: Yeah, it's like, it's like, um, "eyes," um...

TAYLOR: And then you end up writing a song with the same idea that's really not any good.

CUBBY: What song from Middle of Nowhere would you say was written when you were really like, it just came to you?

TAYLOR: Um, “With You In Your Dreams,” which is about our grandmother who passed away.

CUBBY: Oh, really?

TAYLOR: It was--that was like one of those kind of like night songs, when it's like late at night and you kind of run up to the keyboard and you sit there and you play it into the night, and you kind of, hopefully you remember it the next day, you know?

CUBBY: Right. This is Hanson Live! Everybody say “Hi” to Sarah, in Providence!

ALL: Hello, Sarah!

TAYLOR: In Providence!

SARAH: Hi you guys.

ALL: How are you?

SARAH: Good.

CUBBY: Everyone's so shy.

SARAH: Um, I just wanted to say I love you guys. You guys rock and everything.

ISAAC: Well, thank you very much.

SARAH: And, um, I just wanted to ask you, do you like listen to your own music?

ZAC: Um...

ISAAC: To a certain extent, yeah.

ZAC: See, but to an, a certain extent the other way, you don't like listening to your music because you hear it so often.

TAYLOR: No, that's not necessarily true, it's kind of like, I mean, I guess it's kind of like when you see yourself on TV, it's like "Ooh, that's kind of weird," but at the same time, I think it's, you know, if it's something you just recorded or a song that you're psyched about, that's different, you know?

CUBBY: Yeah. The first time you heard “MMMBop” on the radio. You probably know exactly where you were, what you were doing.

ZAC: We were in New York, in a van, and...

TAYLOR: We were getting out in front of a hotel...

ZAC: And Ike jumped--we were jumping out and Ike was the last out and he goes, "Hey guys, stop! Turn up the radio!" and...

TAYLOR: There it was, it was amazing.

ISAAC: Yeah, there it was, it was on.

ZAC: And one of the cool things is, sometimes when, even if the radio almost isn't on, you'll go, "Hey, turn up the radio," and it'll be your song.

TAYLOR: You know, you'll know that it's your song.

ZAC: And somehow you'll know it.

TAYLOR: It's, it's a weird, sick feeling you get, you know? You're about to...

ISAAC: Yeah, you get sick and want to vomit.

TAYLOR: Yeah, and you're like, "Hey, it's our song!"

CUBBY: Now are you guys perfectionists? I mean, do you hear a song that like, you did and you're like, "Oh, man, we should have done that better."

TAYLOR: We're very, very, perfectionistic.

ISAAC: I, uh, I... to a certain extent, yeah.

CUBBY: Cos when you were warming up a cappella just a little while ago during the break, you guys were like, you know, “We got to get tighter,” or something, I mean you're like...

TAYLOR: Well, it's like...

CUBBY: I mean, you sounded fine to me!

ZAC: It's like, "Zac, you're flat..."

TAYLOR: Zac, you're flat.

ZAC: Even if...

CUBBY: Zac, you're the name of the next album!

ZAC: Even if...

ISAAC: The name of the next album is Flat notes.

ZAC: By Hanson. Now even if... sometimes other people don't hear it... you hear it... so you're like, "No, you have to do this...”

TAYLOR: You know, it's more like when you're in the studio and you're like, creating it and you're recording it, that's when you get really perfectionistic...

ISAAC: Right.

TAYLOR: But you know, once you put it out there it's kind of like you got to let it go a little bit, you know, so...

ISAAC: And you know, to answer actually, her question, we do listen to our music when we're done, like when you're done with the record you feel really good about the record and so you listen to it a lot and then, then you're done listening to it for a while.

CUBBY: It'll be cool to pull out Middle of Nowhere in about 10 years.

TAYLOR: Yeah.

CUBBY: You'll be like...

TAYLOR: It's always cool to look back and hear the music that you did, you know, because it's always, you know...

CUBBY: It reflects a time of when you were.

TAYLOR: Well yeah, but it's, you know what's funny is that you'll always remember exactly what was happening.

ZAC: See, but what we need to do is we need to do, like, you know, a movie, and you leave the dust and you're like...

CUBBY: Is there going to be a Hanson movie?

TAYLOR: Oh, man...

ISAAC: Oh, no, no, no.

CUBBY: If the Spice Girls can do it, you guys can.

TAYLOR: Well, the thing is, we're not, we're not about doing movies, necessarily. I mean, we're really psyched about doing other things...

CUBBY: If Hanson did a movie, what would the theme be?

TAYLOR: Um, I think that totally depends on...

ISAAC: Anything but "a life with Hanson" or "a day with Hanson" or something, anything but that.

TAYLOR: I think we're very interested, as with, you know, on the videos and weird, and all the videos we've done, we've been very, very involved, and on the video, Tulsa To Tokyo, um, is...

ISAAC: Tulsa, Tokyo & The Middle of Nowhere.

TAYLOR: Sorry, just trying to shorten it. It's so long! But, I mean, we're very involved and very psyched about getting shots and you know, on videos and you're like...

ISAAC: Getting shots? I'm not psyched about getting shots. I go to the doctor I'm like, "Please, don't give me a shot!"

CUBBY: Well I was thinking, I was thinking, you're underage for that.

TAYLOR: I think that I should just stop right there, you know, I was about to go into something, I should just stop.

CUBBY: A phone call will save us. Erin, from New York! What's going on?

ERIN: Hi.

CUBBY: Welcome to Hanson Live!

ERIN: Hi.

ISAAC: Hi, how are you?

CUBBY: Talk to the guys.

ERIN: Hi Zac. Hi Taylor, hi Isaac.

ZAC: Hey.

ERIN: How are you guys doing?

ALL: Great, we're doing just fine.

ZAC: Now, what is your question?

ERIN: I was just wondering, is it hard for you guys to write songs about girls if you've never had girlfriends? Where do you get your ideas from?

ZAC: Well... I dream.

TAYLOR: Well, girls are very inspirational, what can I say.

ISAAC: Yeah, girls are very inspirational whether you have a girlfriend or not.

CUBBY: We have a TV on here, in the studio, and a Victoria's Secret commercial came on, and Zac goes, "Oh my god, you guys just missed the best commercial!"

TAYLOR: I think that was you.

CUBBY: No it wasn't, it was Zac!

ISAAC: It was you.

CUBBY: He's spitting Pringles all over the place.

ISAAC: He's lying.

CUBBY: Playing tic-tac-toe with his Twizzlers.

TAYLOR: That kind of sounds--I just, I… this is not good, you're starting something, man, you're--um, I'll finish the question, I'm gonna cap it off. Girls are definitely very inspirational, it was meant that way so it's not hard to write about girls, so.

CUBBY: We're gonna get one more call here, uh, Kristen, from Rhode Island, one of the bigger states, listening now.

TAYLOR: Cool.

CUBBY: Yeah, Kristen, what's going on, you're on the air with Hanson!

ZAC: [deep voice] Hello, Rhode Island.

KRISTEN: Hi, I just wanted to say that over here in Rhode Island we're all really devoted to Hanson--

TAYLOR: Awesome.

KRISTEN: And I wanted to ask, how's Zoë doing?

ZAC: [Loveline voice] She's so great.

ISAAC: Zoe's doing very good, she is very cute.

TAYLOR: And very fat.

ISAAC: Yes, very fat, as babies should be.

ZAC: She's actually become... um, the Sumo baby wrestler of the world.

TAYLOR: She's professional.

ISAAC: She's the champion Sumo wrestler.

TAYLOR: Actually, she's decided to move out. She's kind of bored with...

ISAAC: Yeah, she's got her own apartment now, she's bored with us. She's moving out. She said, "Bye, guys."

CUBBY: Can I, can I butt in here real quick? I'm probably gonna get fan mail going, "You don't know who Zoë is?" I have to admit, I don't know who Zoë is.

TAYLOR: Zoë is our brand new little sister. She's three months old.

CUBBY: Ahhh. Okay, congratulations.

TAYLOR: She's very good.

ISAAC: Actually, she's almost four months.

CUBBY: She's already singing too, I heard.

ISAAC: Ah, actually, no… but if you want to say that, you can.

TAYLOR: No, that's, that's up to you.

CUBBY: Hey, how about a little “MMMBop” a cappella and then we'll go into uh, “MMMBop,” which is old, but new. It's on, uh, Three Car Garage.

ISAAC: Yeah.

TAYLOR: Yeah, this is the, you can kind of hear the original version of “MMMBop,” from the evolution to where it is now.

CUBBY: So, you don't mind doing it a cappella? I'm not putting you on the spot?

SING “MMMBOP” A CAPPELLA

CUBBY: Hanson Live, and here it is from Three Car Garage, coming out tomorrow, this is Hanson Live!

PLAYS “MMMBOP”

CUBBY: Hanson Live, we're here at the top of the Empire State Building here in New York City, Paul Cubby Bryant hanging with the guys, that's “MMMBop,” old-new but new-old, but...

TAYLOR: It's the old, old, new.

ISAAC: Actually that recording, on that recording, it's really cool, we liked what the engineer said. The engineer said, before every song would cue us when he was recording and he'd say, "We're recording" and that's actually on the record cos we kept it on there and we liked it.

TAYLOR: So you hear, "We're recording."

CUBBY: That actually got you signed, like, that was the one that Mercury Records heard.

ISAAC: This record, Three Car Garage, is the record that got us signed. The songs were the demos that we sent out to people to hear, and actually, you know, I'm gonna take this moment right now to say, we would like to thank everybody for calling in so far, we'd like to thank everybody for calling the show.

TAYLOR: And we'd like to say hi to all the MOE members. All the people that are a part of MOE.

CUBBY: Yeah, I want to get to that. MOE, the fan club magazine. Tell me about this.

TAYLOR: Um, MOE is our fan club magazine…

CUBBY: How do you get it?

TAYLOR: Um, you can only get it through our website. You can sign up there...

ISAAC: Actually, there's a little insert thing in Three Car Garage.

TAYLOR: In Three Car Garage, you can sign up through that, and it's, um, it's really just, it's kind of like from, it's our...

ZAC: You get four issues a year.

TAYLOR: You get four issues a year, it's articles and things that are written by us, our good friends, or people like that, so, it's exclusive things.

CUBBY: We'll talk more about that. We'll talk about the website, I want to talk about that too.

TAYLOR: Cool.

CUBBY: It's Hanson Live, it's Cubby, we'll be back with more Hanson and more phone calls after this.

COMMERCIAL

CUBBY: Welcome back to Hanson Live. Taylor, Isaac, Zac. My name is Cubby, let's take a phone call, because I want to get these phone calls here. Andrea, from Maryland, you're on the air, Hanson Live.

TAYLOR: Hi Andrea.

ANDREA: Hi guys!

ISAAC: How are you?

ANDREA: How you doing? I'm doing pretty good, how you guys doing?

ISAAC: We're doing very good, what was your question?

ANDREA: Well, I was originally gonna ask you guys another question but I know a lot about you guys anyway, so why don't you ask me a question?

CUBBY: Oooh!

TAYLOR: Wow, this is a quiz!

ISAAC: You're a tricky one!

CUBBY: How many Hanson posters do you have in your bedroom?

TAYLOR: Hey, we didn't...

ANDREA: You sure you want to know that?

TAYLOR: Actually, we didn't ask that.

ISAAC: Actually, that was Cubby.

CUBBY: Yeah, all right. I'm gonna stay out of it.

ZAC: Um, how many Hanson records do you have?

ANDREA: I have, let's see...

TAYLOR: Zac, there's only one.

ZAC: No...

ANDREA: Yeah, but I have all your singles, too.

ALL: Cool.

ANDREA: Cos I have to get everything on you guys, I love all your songs. They're so cool.

ISAAC: Well, thank you very much.

TAYLOR: Do you... do you get on the internet?

ANDREA: Um, yes all the time.

TAYLOR: Cool. Well, um, we're gonna be on Hansonline, we're gonna be as the tour goes on we're gonna be updating as we go along, kind of talking to people and giving information...

ZAC: And maybe we'll do a few chats in the chat room...

TAYLOR: Yeah we'll probably do chats as we're on tour so if you are online that's one thing that's very important, go to Hansonline.com and that's where you can get all kinds of things as we're gonna be on tour and traveling around, we'll be connecting directly through there. And you'll--you can find out the exact date of when we'll be putting tickets out for the tour, which will come out very soon.

ISAAC: I believe the tour tickets...

TAYLOR: No later than the 15th is gonna be the end deadline. Either the 15th or it's gonna be before that so be watching for when that's gonna go on sale so...

ISAAC: And you'll be able to find out that, uh, the best way is to go to Hansonline and you'll find it out.

TAYLOR: I feel like I just did a really low—that was a promo, man, I'm sorry!

CUBBY: That was good, though! The fans want to know!
