Kidd Kraddick Morning Show
Dallas, Texas
26 August 2004

I was lucky enough to call the KISS FM station in Dallas during the morning show and they selected me to ask Taylor a question during their interview with him, so I'm proud to say that the caller named "Heidi" is me. It was a very surreal moment to be able to talk to Taylor on the radio and you can probably tell by the way I answered the questions that it was not running through my mind that I was on the radio and there were people listening, but at the same time, what would you have said if you were asked who your favorite Hanson was or if Taylor was hot? I was speechless, so that's why I sounded a bit stupid, but either way, it was an awesome experience and a very cool memory to add to my years of being a Hanson fan.

KIDD: Morgan, have you ever talked to Hanson before?

MORGAN: No, but I've been wanting to since I was 12.

KIDD: Wow!

AL: How old are you now?

MORGAN: 20.

KIDD: 20, wow. Hold on a second. Lizzie, hi.

JESSICA: This is Jessica.

KIDD: Oh, hold on.

KELLIE: We're all confused!

KIDD: Lizzie?

LIZZIE: Hi, I was wondering, what's your most favorite-

KIDD: No, no, no, you're not on with Hanson yet. I just wanted to say "hi." How old are you Lizzie?

LIZZIE: I'm 15.

KIDD: How long have you been a Hanson fan?

LIZZIE: Since 97.

KIDD: Since 97, alright. Hand on just a minute. That'd be since she was 8 years old.

KIDD: And Heidi, how old are you?

HEIDI: I'm 21.

KIDD: Have you ever talked to Hanson?

HEIDI: Not on the radio.

KIDD: You've talked to them in person?

HEIDI: Yes.

KIDD: Really?

HEIDI: Yes.

KIDD: Like where?

HEIDI: I have meet them at autograph signings at just at their concerts.

KIDD: Who's your favorite?

HEIDI: Ooh, I don't have a favorite.

AL: Yes you do.

HEIDI: Noo…

KIDD: Well I have Taylor on the phone right now, is that okay?

HEIDI: That is wonderful. That is absolutely okay.

KIDD: Alright, cool, let's get him on.

AL: I wonder if he'll remember you.

KIDD: Taylor! Taylor!

MORGAN: I think you picked up my line.

KIDD: No, I have him on too, it's conferenced. But thanks. Hi Taylor!

TAYLOR: How are you Kidd?

KIDD: Good, how's it going man?

TAYLOR: Going really well, just cruising down the road.

KIDD: Say "hi" to Morgan and Heidi, they're on the phone here.

TAYLOR: Morgan and Heidi, how are you guys?

MORGAN: Hey, hi.

HEIDI: Good.

KIDD: Where are you right now Taylor, you say you're cruising down the road, where?

TAYLOR: Well, we're on tour playing shows. We're leaving; we're in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I don't know where we're off to next. Oh, Louisville, Kentucky, that's where we're off to next.

KIDD: We can help with this because we're DJs and we've had to move all over the country for our radio jobs. If you'll look out the window and describe what you see, we'll tell you where you are.

TAYLOR: Lots of trees…

AL: Trees, okay.

TAYLOR: Let's see, I see some cows.

KIDD: Alright, that's definitely the eastern part of the US. Keep going.

KELLIE: This is very helpful.

KIDD: See anything else?

TAYLOR: Oh, let's see… a sign that says Wendy's.

AL: You're right outside Philadelphia.

KIDD: You're in Harrisburg!

TAYLOR: Somewhere close to your former home?

KIDD: Hey Taylor, do me a favor. Just a little prank. Walk up to the front of the bus and tell the driver, just say, "hey, move it dude, I'm taking over for a while."

TAYLOR: Exactly… I was just sitting by the driver right now and I think he… I think that's the last thing he wants to hear, he's been driving all night long. Our bus is about to - cuts in and out --

KIDD: Do you guys get to use the same driver the whole tour so you get to know him?

TAYLOR: Yeah, I did, he heard me.

KIDD: Alright, we're kind of losing you.

KELLIE: We're losing the signal!

KIDD: Let's let Morgan get on really quick with a question. Taylor, can you hear us now? No.

KELLIE: Oh honey, we're losing your signal.

KIDD: Call us back Taylor!

KELLIE: Taylor?

KIDD: Taylor's gone!

AL: Sorry girls. Hopefully he'll call right back.

KIDD: Sorry about that Morgan. He's probably going to be on in a minute though, okay?

MORGAN: I hope so!

CUTS BACK TO ANOTHER SEGMENT

KIDD: We have Taylor back on from Hanson.

KELLIE: Can you tell from where he lost the signal exactly where he is now?

KIDD: Yeah, he's in Altoona. Right outside Altoona. Taylor, you back with me?

TAYLOR: Yeah, sorry about that.

KIDD: That's okay dude.

KELLIE: Not your fault!

TAYLOR: Life on the road.

KIDD: I know, I know. It must be hard; you can't have an intimate conversation with somebody.

TAYLOR: No, I mean, you and me, we can't really get personal.

KIDD: I know, I was so looking forward to that this morning.

TAYLOR: Not nearly as personal as I might hope (laughs).

KIDD: I know, Morgan?

AL: You want us to leave?

KIDD: Would you like to get personal with Taylor on the phone here?

MORGAN: He's married now, we can't do that.

TAYLOR: Welcome to Loveline.

KIDD: Yeah, he is married, he is married.

TAYLOR: No, but we can talk about all that stuff.

KIDD: Morgan, you got a question?

MORGAN: Yeah, y'alls CD Underneath has been in my CD player for about two weeks straight, that's about the only thing I listen to when I'm not listening to Kidd Kraddick in the morning. And the song "Broken Angel" is, I think, my favorite song on there and I was just wonder what that song is about.

TAYLOR: Wow, that's a really good question. I'm glad you like the record. "Broken Angel," I mean, is basically-the song is really just all about how you sort of have to accept the undeniable. It's all about how this small, kind of fragile creature has to sort of fight his way through and even though he knows there's sort of know way he's going to survive the inevitable it's still worth climbing up to the top and getting through.

KIDD: It's a song about the little guy?

TAYLOR: Yeah, sort of.

MORGAN: And I also wanted to say that I didn't know that was Zac. I thought that was Isaac.

TAYLOR: Yeah, no, it's Zac singing.

MORGAN: So props to Zac because he sounded good.

TAYLOR: Yeah, no, Zac actually sang the lead on that and also was playing keyboard and drums. One man band.

KIDD: Didn't even need you guys on that one.

TAYLOR: Yeah, he kicked us out! Actually, Kidd, you really like that song, I think I remember when we were playing there last year.

KIDD: That is my favorite song.

KELLIE: That was Kidd's Pick!

KIDD: That was my favorite song on the album.

KELLIE: Kidd's pick of the week!

KIDD: Cos it kind of rocks, you know? It's like the anthems that I grew up with you know, in the late 70s and early 80s because it's got, like "Stairway To Heaven," it's got the slow part and the fast part. Really cool song.

MORGAN: See Kidd, I knew we were meant to be!

KIDD: Excuse me?

TAYLOR: Yeah, you guys are really on the same wavelength there. I was feeling that, that was weird.

KIDD: Well Morgan, thanks a lot for calling!

MORGAN: Yeah, thank you for letting me talk to him! It was great!

KIDD: It was good for me and it was good for Taylor.

TAYLOR: It was so intimate.

MORGAN: Good luck with y'alls concert, I don't get to go.

KELLIE: Ah, darn it!

KIDD: Bummer, why can't you go?

MORGAN: Because I asked everyone that I know to go with me and no one will go with me, so I don't get to go.

KELLIE: Al will go with you!

AL: Huh?

MORGAN: Come on, Al, go with me to see Hanson!

KIDD: Do you think they would go with you if I told you that you would be in the third row?

MORGAN: I don't know!

KIDD: Well let's try that!

MORGAN: Oh my, are you serious?

KIDD: Yeah, I'm hooking you up with third row seats!

KELLIE: Oh, now Al really wants to go!

MORGAN: Oh my god, Kidd Kraddick, I love you.

KIDD: And you can also tell them Morgan that after the show you're going to go backstage and meet the guys.

MORGAN: Are you serious?!

AL: Oh, look at that girlfriend!

KIDD: Taylor, that's cool with you, isn't it?

TAYLOR: Hey, it's good with me.

MORGAN: Are you serious?

KIDD: Yeah, we'll hook you up with backstage.

MORGAN: Oh my god, oh, I love you guys so much!

KELLIE: You can't put Taylor on the spot like that Kidd!

KIDD: So Morgan, bring a true fan, okay?

MORGAN: Okay, thank you so much.

RICH: And Morgan, you get to make out with Taylor too!

TAYLOR: It's going to be very intimate, yes.

KIDD: Lizzie is 15, hi Lizzie. Say "hi" to Taylor Hanson.

LIZZIE: Hi Taylor!

TAYLOR: Hey Lizzie, how are you?

LIZZIE: I'm good, I was wondering what song means the most to you on Underneath?

TAYLOR: What song means the most? Gosh, that's really hard. I think-- *cuts out*

KIDD: Uh oh, there we go again. I'm going back to the blondes again.

TAYLOR: Are you guys there?

KELLIE: Yeah, barely hanging on! Are you there dude?

KIDD: You need like a super sonic cell phone.

KELLIE: Aww no!! Oh, darn it!

KIDD: Sorry about that.

KELLIE: But you know, he's going to call back.

AL: Let's go back to the blondes.

KIDD: Poor Lizzie lost the chance of a lifetime!

KELLIE: Don't you keep doing that to him. Did we already have that prearranged for them backstage?

KIDD: Of course Kellie.

KELLIE: Okay, good.

KIDD: Why are you constantly the celebrity's publicist?

KELLIE: I hate you to put them on the spot like that and then they're like, "we don't do backstage."

KIDD: They do backstage.

KELLIE: Well, some people don't.

KIDD: They do everything we ask, they're wonderful.

_______________________________

KIDD: We have Taylor back on the phone now, apparently he's actually made the bus pull over, which probably isn't going over very big with Isaac, but are you pulled over Taylor?

TAYLOR: We are, that was actually really funny. "So tell me the most important song to you." - "Well…" *imitates getting cut off*

KIDD: I know.

KELLY: Oh, is that happening again? Oh other people are hanging up.

KIDD: So we have Heidi on the phone and she's been waiting for like an hour to talk to you. Heidi, say "hi" to Taylor Hanson.

HEIDI: Hey Taylor!

TAYLOR: Hey Heidi!

HEIDI: What's up?

TAYLOR: How are you?

HEIDI: I'm doing great.

KIDD: Is he the hottest one, Taylor?

HEIDI: Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely.

KELLIE: They love being compared.

TAYLOR: Yeah, yeah, I think Kidd just likes talking about that.

KIDD: I do, I do.

KELLIE: Do you have a question Heidi?

HEIDI: I do. I'm going to be seeing you guys tomorrow in Louisville, that is where you are headed in case you didn't know.

TAYLOR: Oh that's crazy, wow. That's amazing. Thanks for traveling to see a show, that's really cool.

KIDD: How do you know she's traveling? Cos we're all over the country.

KELLIE: Yeah, we're syndicated.

TAYLOR: That's so cool.

KIDD: Where do you live?

HEIDI: I live in Georgia.

KIDD: In Georgia!

KELLIE: So you are traveling!

HEIDI: Yep, I am traveling. That's what you got to do though.

KIDD: So Hanson's not playing in Georgia?

HEIDI: They already played here, they played one show here. And I just can't get enough so I have to go travel to see them.

TAYLOR: Well that's really cool, did you have a question Heidi?

HEIDI: Yes, you guys have been on tour since early July with little time off and I was just wondering how you deal with the rigors of touring?

KELLIE: Especially with a wife and a baby at home.

TAYLOR: Well every once in a while we have a break like calling the Kidd Kraddick show and it refreshes us. It can be really hard; it's a hard life. You know, it's definitely a rigorous thing, it keeps you under the gun all the time and also being an independent label and running our record company and sort of being on the ball with the people working in our offices everyday, you know, we're on a satellite and everybody traded laptops and it's kind of crazy, but you know I think it's mostly that we really love playing shows and it kind of keeps you excited about it every night and you know, we change it up every night we play.

KIDD: Don't you miss Jordan like crazy though?

TAYLOR: Yes, we do. I mean, it can be really hard. We try to bring him on the road with us as much as I can. In fact, most of this tour he's been on the road.

KELLY: How old is he now?

TAYLOR: Oh gosh, he'll be two on Halloween. So it's coming up close.

RICH: Is he already playing drums?

TAYLOR: You know what, no joke, he really does, actually, play drums. We actually-he doesn't have much hair to speak of so it's kind of more for entertainment on everyone else's level but we shaved his hair down a little bit so he's got Isaac's hair cut now, a little Mohawk.

KIDD: I was going to ask if he had a little mullet working there.

TAYLOR: No, the mullet, that's for the rest of the Oklahoma boys. He's got a Mohawk.

KIDD: Well listen, if we don't let the bus driver go you won't make it to Louisville tonight.

TAYLOR: Well, it was great talking to you Heidi, guys, thanks for your questions.

KIDD: It's awesome to talk to you Taylor.

AL: Good, thanks for taking the time and thanks for calling us back.

TAYLOR: Hey, no problem, no problem.

KIDD: Heidi, drive carefully to the show.

HEIDI: Thank you, I will.

KIDD: Hey Heidi? Heidi?

HEIDI: Yes, yes?

KIDD: You just totally talked to Taylor Hanson!

HEIDI: I know, I did!

KIDD: Hold on Heidi, okay?

HEIDI: Thanks guys.

KELLY: It's really funny the level of devotion your fans have because last night we were at a little event and this girl brought the concert poster up, she said, "can you please help me promote this?" And she wanted to post it up at our event. I mean, they really are just passionate still.

TAYLOR: Well you know what, more than anything, we just try to instill the idea of having passion in something period. I mean, I think that's one of the biggest things that's missing. In people really being passionate about the music they love, and having people go, just look, if you go to a show it should be a release, let loose. And so it's amazing, it's cool to see fans that are willing to do that, that's crazy, she's traveling to see shows.

KIDD: Do you guys ever sing "The Wheels On The Bus Go Round & Round?"

TAYLOR: Yes, we do, many classics.

AL: In perfect harmony.

KIDD: Alright, listen, go to hansonline.com H-A-N-S-O-N-line.com, right? Hansonline.com.

TAYLOR: Yes, and you can also go to Hanson.Net.

KIDD: Hanson.net, and you can get the full schedule because Hanson's coming to Dallas and they're coming to Louisville and they're coming-they're just all over the place where we're on, so if you're hearing us Hanson is probably coming close to you real soon.

TAYLOR: Yeah, we'll be all over Texas in the next couple weeks so come on down.

KIDD: Great show, thanks a lot Taylor, good to see you. or talk to you, I didn't actually see you cos you're on the phone but it's good to see the phone that you were on while I was talking to you.

AL: Kind of visualized you.

KIDD: Thanks.
