03 May 2004MICHAEL: Taylor on the phone from the group Hanson. Hey Taylor how's it going?
TAYLOR: Going really well. Thanks for having me on the show.
MICHAEL: You guys are originally from Oklahoma, right?
TAYLOR: Yeah, we are country boys.
MICHAEL: Yes you are.
TAYLOR: Can't take the Oklahoma out of the boys.
MICHAEL: Is Hanson the biggest star in Oklahoma or is it Garth Brooks?
TAYLOR: Oh, you know what... you know the answer to that... really, come on.
MICHAEL: I mean when you go there...
TAYLOR: It's Garth Brooks.
MICHAEL: Yeah. Are your parents still in Oklahoma?
TAYLOR: Yeah, our family is still in Oklahoma. You know... a lot of good friends, you know we still have… we still do a lot of business out of there cos we been there for years, so we gotta, a lot of people still work with us, that are there but it's kind of like a bi-costal, crazy, traveling kind of life we have.
MICHAEL: Yeah, what's it like Taylor when you go back to Oklahoma, now that you lived this worldly life?
TAYLOR: You know what, it's great actually. It's great to go back and see your family and visit and it's actually kind of a relief, cos living in New York, I mean New York is an amazing city, but it's, you know, it got really good people back in Oklahoma and good friends.
MICHAEL: The name of the brand new CD is called Underneath. It's their third CD. We're talking to Taylor from Hanson. Of course Taylor, Zac, and Isaac from the group. How old are you guys now?
TAYLOR: I am 21, Isaac is 23, and Zac is 18.
MICHAEL: Well congratulations, you guys. Your CD Underneath debuted #1 on the independent sale's chart. I'll be glad to tell you that your CD is #6 right here in Milwaukee. Good job.
TAYLOR: Awesome. Yeah we just released the album on our own independent record company and that's what's on the indie charts. What does that mean? The reason was because we started our label and releasing it on that. It's really... it's an amazing way to get close to the fans and it's just been an incredible experience, doing that.
MICHAEL: Well for our listeners that don't know about that, it's really, really hard to release something independently and make it happen. There's bands that try it all the time and never can get the CD sales that you guys have gotten.
TAYLOR: Well... you know what, it's really just about building a fan base... and you know, we have just been all over, everywhere from Leno to Ellen, just... you know, just out there playing music and it's just been amazing to have the feedback from the fan base and see them grow and I think you just keep making music and hoping people respond.
RAHNY: Hey Taylor, you're married now and you got a kid and everything. How's that change your life?
TAYLOR: In every way! In a good way; in a great way. It's just an amazing thing to have, you know, to have those brand new people in your life. It's hard... hard to imagine what it would be like without them now.
MICHAEL: Hi, we're talking to Taylor Hanson, of the group Hanson and they got the new independent CD out, it's called Underneath. It's doing very well; as a matter of fact it's #1 on the independent sale's chart.
GINGER: Well Taylor, I see that you guys are in all the talk shows and everything. What are your tour plans?
TAYLOR: We're going to be touring all through out the summer, to playing shows all over the country, so... I don't know... we're... we're trying to play as much as we can. That is one of the most important things to us, so... maybe we will be in Milwaukee.
MICHAEL: Hey... you know what Taylor? You are playing as much as you can. I'm going to give you an opportunity right now to play in Milwaukee. What date do we have open for a possible anniversary bash? Can you look quickly and see what we have available?
RAHNY: It's got to be in May.
MICHAEL: What... what day do we have?
RAHNY: Like before Memorial weekend?
MICHAEL: What about the 27th?
RAHNY: Yeah.
MICHAEL: We can do the 27th?
RAHNY: Yeah.
MICHAEL: Alright... May 27th is our day that we have open and we are looking to doing our anniversary bash.
TAYLOR: You know what... what, what day are you guys doing that?
MICHAEL: It is May 27th, it's on a Thursday.
GINGER: You busy that day?
TAYLOR: I...
MICHAEL: Sounds like he is checking with somebody.
GINGER: No way!
MICHAEL: Yeah... yeah...
GINGER: Are you kidding me?
TAYLOR: Hey... can you guys hear me?
MICHAEL: Yeah... yeah... now I can, go ahead.
TAYLOR: I was just... I was just thinking about the dates. I think... I think we can do that. I think we... we should try and plan a show for you.
MICHAEL: Wow... that is great! The 27th, May 27th you can come to Milwaukee and play our birthday bash.
TAYLOR: Dude, that would be awesome!
MICHAEL: Oh... yeah, that would be awesome!
RAHNY: YES!
MICHAEL: And I guess we'll see Hanson... Ronnie. Taylor and the gang coming to our big party, coming up. Hey, thanks man for taking a couple of minutes to talk to us.
TAYLOR: Looking forward to it you guys and thanks so much.
MICHAEL: We'll see you on TV and then on May 27th here in Milwaukee at our first anniversary show.
