Lowie's Hot 30 Countdown
Australia
12 April 2005

LOWIE: You heard me correctly, Mr Taylor Hanson is on the phone right now if you have any questions to ask him. 1-800 15 11 00 on Lowie's Top 30 Countdown. Taylor, how are you doing?

TAYLOR: Hey, doing well.

LOWIE: Alright, now we've got a whole bunch of your fans just waiting on line and a whole bunch of fans ringing through. Are you going to stick around and we'll ask you a whole bunch of Hansony questions?

TAYLOR: Well, I don't know what a "Hansony question" is but I'll stick around.

LOWIE: A Hansony question is like, what hair shampoo do you use?

TAYLOR: Well those questions we won't ask. Won't answer. *laughs*

LOWIE: Right, stick around bro we're coming back to you in just a second, cool?

TAYLOR: Yep.

*

LOWIE: Oh, Maz is stoked. One of her childhood idols is on the phone, Mr Taylor Hanson, answering all your questions. 1800 15 11 00. Taylor, how you feeling?

TAYLOR: Doing well.

LOWIE: Now what's cracking so far, whereabouts are you on the planet?

TAYLOR: Actually, I'm in Germany right now.

LOWIE: You're where?!

TAYLOR: Yeah, we've been touring all over the world, playing shows and seeing fans and talking about this record. So right now we're touring through Europe and things are going well.

LOWIE: Awesome. Now, I want to break it down for you. I have spoken to both of your brothers and both of my interviews with them were completely shit and I even pissed off the youngest one so much that he told me to, quote unquote, "stick a lamp up my ass."

TAYLOR: You must have been talking to somebody else!

LOWIE: No! I'll play the audio back for you if you'd like.

MAZ: He really said that, it was hilarious!

LOWIE: It was definitely a moment in my history. So we sat down this morning and I don't know how to talk to Hanson without pissing them off. And then we came up with the idea, well, Lowie, maybe you don't talk to them, maybe we just get your fans to ask you questions, is that cool?

TAYLOR: That sounds like a good idea to me.

LOWIE: Lovely. Yeah, don't want to piss you off Taylor. Let's hit the phones, 1800 15 11 00. Now we have Kristy on the phone, and Kristy, you're live right now with Mr Taylor Hanson.

KRISTY: Hi!

TAYLOR: Hi Kristy.

KRISTY: Hi Tay, how you going?

TAYLOR: Doing well.

KRISTY: Well, we just wanted to ask you if you guys realize how much of an impact you have on your fans lives, cos there are 4 of us here, we met at the acoustic tour for the first time last year and now we live together. We moved from interstate; I moved from Perth, Heidi and Lisa moved from Sydney and Melbourne and we all live here together and yeah, we're living here together. Do you realize how much of an impact you have on your fans?

TAYLOR: Well, I mean, it sounds like we should get involved in real estate. *laughs*

KRISTY: You really could man, you really could! We just felt like family and it's great.

TAYLOR: Well, I guess that is something that we don't have anything literally to do with but I think it's pretty amazing that you guys connected with each other as friends and that's a nice side note to being fans of music.

KRISTY: It is, and we wouldn't have all met if we didn't love your music.

TAYLOR: Well that's really cool.

LOWIE: If I had a violin track to play right now I would.

MAZ: I feel the need for there to be a group hug!

LOWIE: Everyone hold on to your phone we're going to have a group hug on the count of 3. Ready? 1, 2, 3!

MAZ: There it is! There it is!

TAYLOR: That was a little awkward.

LOWIE: Oh, I'm sorry. Thanks Kristy! 1800 15 11 00 if you have a Hanson question, on the phone right now Taylor. Lowie's Hot 30 Countdown. Yo Becc, what's your question for Taylor Hanson?

BECC: Well first I just want to say that the Squishy Girls are very excited about the upcoming 7 shows that the guys are playing, I just had to mention that. Squishy Girls.

TAYLOR: The Squishy Girls? I don't think I want to know about that.

BECC: No, it's all-good! It's all-good. Anyway, my question, I'll move along. You guys have mentioned a few times that you plan to help new artists down the track with 3CG Records and as a musician myself I actually gave you guys a CD last time you were in Melbourne. Would there be an opportunity for someone like me or are you planning on keeping it in the States?

TAYLOR: Well, it has nothing to do with the United States or any kind of music. We're in a position - I mean, I think the whole music business right now is in a really bad place, but that actually means that it's in a good place because new opportunity will grow from a lot of the mistakes that have been made. I think our goal is to really figure out how we can do something unique on the label, so I mean, we're just keeping our eyes and ears open and thank you so much for giving us your music. We're not really focused on signing bands right now cos we've got so much to do as a label on our own album but I think in the future it would be the most gratifying thing ever to help get other great music out there.

BECC: Cool. Thank you so much.

LOWIE: Hope that helped you out, okay Becc?

BECC: Thank you, bye!

LOWIE: Oh Taylor, you're not creeped out so far, are you bro?

TAYLOR: Am I what?

LOWIE: You're not creeped out by your fans yet?

TAYLOR: You know what, that would happen a long time ago, but the real estate, the whole moving together thing, I don't quite know how to understand - how I feel about that, but I think it must be good.

LOWIE: I understand your pain bro. Listen, can you stick around for a couple of songs and answer a couple more questions, are you cool with that?

TAYLOR: Sure.

LOWIE: Beautiful. 1800 15 11 00 if you have any questions for Taylor Hanson, of course from Hanson.

*

LOWIE: Ooh, if you are like me and grew up listening to Hanson, that "MMMBop" action back in 97, now is the time to call. 1800 15 11 00.

MAZ: Taylor Hanson.

LOWIE: From Hanson fame.

MAZ: AKA Tay.

LOWIE: The Hottie. Taylor, how you doing? Taylor?

TAYLOR: Doing well.

LOWIE: Now so far we've asked you a couple creepy questions, you haven't had any nudie questions or any stalker questions yet but we're gonna see how we're about to go, okay?

TAYLOR: Yes, but we did have living together, four girls in an apartment. It sounds like the Real World with Hanson.

MAZ: Yeah, it does!

LOWIE: There could be some lesbian pillow fights and shit up in there.

TAYLOR: Hey, you never know.

MAZ: You have to take it around town, don't you Lowie? Just shut up and get to the next caller, all right?

LOWIE: 1800 15 11 00 if you have a question for Taylor Hanson. Yo Laura, what's your question for Taylor? You're on the air.

LAURA: Okay, hi guys. Hi Ike, hi Tay, hi Zac.

LOWIE: Okay, I'll be playing Zac for you!

LAURA: Just Taylor? Okay. Do you want the question first or can I say something?

TAYLOR: Just go for it.

LAURA: Okay, well, I've been a fan since 1997 and I really love you guys so much. I even have the Hanson symbol tattooed on my back. That's how much I love you.

TAYLOR: Ooh… my God. Wow.

LAURA: First off all, I want to say that on the 14th of March this year I went on air and Lowie let me say "happy birthday" to you. I just wish you could have heard it.

TAYLOR: Oh, that was very cool. Well thank you for that birthday wish, I much appreciate it.

LAURA: My question is, I heard Natalie is pregnant again and I'm wondering if you've chosen any names for the baby.

LOWIE: Let's break this in; Natalie is your wife, right Taylor?

TAYLOR: Yes, we have a 2 year old and we are expecting #2 and we're kind of still thinking about it. So I'm gonna keep that between me and her. I'm sure you'll know before long.

LOWIE: Name it Lowie.

MAZ: Don't you dare name it Lowie.

TAYLOR: You know what? Unfortunately, I don't think that's in the running.

LOWIE: You know what? I bring you on the show and you're just bringing me down.

LAURA: Do you know what gender it is?

TAYLOR: What's that? Oh, we don't. We don't. No, we're leaving it to be a surprise.

LOWIE: That's the miracle, Laura. That's the miracle of life, you don't know if it's going to be a boy or a girl or even both in some equations if you're from Texas.

TAYLOR: Lowie, you don't have any suggestions for the names?

LAURA: Suggestions?

TAYLOR: No, I was asking Lowie.

LOWIE: My suggestions for a name? Probably Loweina for a girl. If you want the boy to be a general of an army, Lowieus Maximus. Or the Lo-Dawg if it's a bad ass baby, which I think it might be.

TAYLOR: Got it. Got it. We'll put those in.

MAZ: You just write those down.

LOWIE: Taylor, can you hang on for a couple more questions, are you cool with that?

TAYLOR: Sure.

LOWIE: 1800 15 11 00 is the hotline to ask Taylor Hanson some creepy, creepy Hanson questions. You've been a real sport so far, champ, thanks for hanging.

TAYLOR: *laughs* No worries.

LOWIE: We are looking for some nudie questions, if you may.

MAZ: We are not!

*

LOWIE: They are the kings of blond headed rock.

MAZ: They're just gorgeous and I love them all!

LOWIE: Of course Taylor from Taylor… Taylor Hanson, Taylor from Hanson is, of course, on the phone doing his thing. Taylor, you gonna hang around and answer a couple more questions for us here on the Hot 30 Countdown?

TAYLOR: Sounds like a plan. Sure.

LOWIE: Now we've had some creepy questions so far. So far girls have moved in with each other because of you, there's been tutters, there's even been talk of Loweina being your next child's name with your beautiful wife Natalie.

TAYLOR: Suggested by yours truly.

LOWIE: I thought you brought that up. That's okay, I guess I'm the one who had the idea. Look out, we're going to go to Justine, here you go, Justin or Justine?

JUSTINE: Justine.

LOWIE: Okay, you're on the air with Taylor, go.

JUSTINE: Hi Tay!

TAYLOR: Hi Justine, how are you?

JUSTINE: I'm good, how are you?

TAYLOR: What's your question?

JUSTINE: I want to know, you know how you got Lucy and Madeline and Penny. Do the names come from like, anything particular or did they rhyme well? Or where did the names come from?

TAYLOR: You know, of course they have to rhyme well in some way even if they are a real name. Penny… Penny was inspired by "Penny Lane." The song is all about listening to those classic songs that you listen to, those moments in your life…

JUSTINE: …that's what I thought, yeah.

TAYLOR: …you never forget, and so "Penny Lane" obviously being such a great song, that name sort of represented all those things. So that's where it came from. Madeline originally came from a name somebody that we knew. And then Lucy, Lucy was a name that we just wanted to write a song about; it was such a great name, yeah.

JUSTINE: Well, I'm so glad you guys are coming down here again, I'm counting down the days. I'm so excited.

TAYLOR: We are too. It's been way too long and we're glad to finally be coming and doing a real tour.

JUSTINE: November and then May again, what more can Hanson fans ask for?

LOWIE: Nudity. Large quantities of nudity on stage.

JUSTINE: A Hanson fan would do anything for you guys. Anything.

TAYLOR: Well, I'm sure it'll be interesting when we get there.

JUSTINE: Yeah, definitely. I can guarantee you that one. Thanks so much, Taylor, it's been my dream to talk to you guys on the phone.

LOWIE: It's all right, it's been my dream to talk to you - oh, you're talking to Taylor.

JUSTINE: Yes, I'm talking to Taylor, sorry. Say "hi" to Zac and Ike.

TAYLOR: All right, see ya.

LOWIE: She freaked me out. Yo, it's Taylor! Those have been some freaky calls, thanks for hanging out and answering some of those.

TAYLOR: Thanks for having them ask the questions.

LOWIE: Is it cool, can you hang around for one more Taylor final thought?

TAYLOR: I'm here as long as we've got the time.

LOWIE: I've got the time if you've got the cuddle power. Taylor Hanson enjoys cuddles as well, Maz. Are you a cuddle man, Taylor? Do you cuddle?

TAYLOR: There is no cuddling going on.

LOWIE: Okay, well, maybe we can change that.

TAYLOR: Unless you want to cuddle with yourself, which… you can do whatever you'd like. But personally, I don't think I'd like to be involved in the cuddling.

*

LOWIE: And what a sport he has been for Lowie's Hot 30 Countdown. Taylor, from Hanson, of course, kicking it with us on the phone here at Lowie's Hot 30 Countdown. Answered all of the freaky questions from fans, but speaking of fans Taylor, I don't know whether you know this or not but I used to be one of the world's biggest Hanson fans myself.

TAYLOR: Oh were ya?

LOWIE: I sung "MMMBop" and my dad thought I was a queer.

TAYLOR: Well, you know, you are talking about cuddling and stuff, so…

LOWIE: I've just been called a queer by Hanson!

MAZ: Oh my gosh, that's a moment in your life; you'll never forget this moment Lowie.

TAYLOR: Hey, well, we want you too. If you're a fan, that's great.

LOWIE: You know what, I'm just looking forward to you coming down. We're cuddling, we're hanging out, we're seeing you play live and then you're sweating and stuff, it's gonna be awesome Taylor. Awesome.

TAYLOR: It is going to be great. It's going to be about time.

LOWIE: Is there anything or one final thought you'd like to say to the rest of the Hanson fans who didn't get the chance to jump on and have a chat with you?

TAYLOR: Mostly just thanks, and we're looking forward to seeing all of you Aussie fans in May.

LOWIE: Awesome, awesome, Mr Taylor Hanson from Hanson. Thanks for hanging out on Lowie's Hot 30 Countdown bro, you've been awesome.

TAYLOR: Yeah, thanks a lot man.
