22 November 1997STEVE: Welcome guys to Atlanta, good to see you all!
ISAAC: Well, thank you very much.
TAYLOR: Thank you.
STEVE: Now is this really exciting? I know you guys have been playing a long time, Taylor told us the other day on the phone how long you guys have been doing it, but when you go out and see this kind of excitement out there, what's it really like?
ISAAC: It's very, very exciting. I mean, how could you say its not exciting? You know when there are 100s of people, 1000s of people outside screaming, having fun, I mean that's, that's what its all about, you know, people enjoying themselves and us, you know, enjoying doing our music - its great.
STEVE: When you picked up the drumsticks for the first time how old were you, Zac?
ZAC: Uhh, I was 8.
ISAAC: 8 or 9.
ZAC: 8 or 9, something like that. I'm trying to remember.
ISAAC: Yeah, I think Zac was 9 actually.
TAYLOR: But we started singing when Zac was 6, so 6 years ago. We've been a group for about 6 years.
STEVE: Now, Isaac, you're 17, right?
ISAAC: Yup.
STEVE: You just turned 17 so one more year of high school, technically?
ISAAC: Yeah, one more year of high school technically and also last year of being, you know, a minor.
STEVE: All right.
TAYLOR: So, now you have to do like all the stuff you can't do when he's 18 - he's gonna go rob a convenience store --
ISAAC: Rob a liquor store or something, I don't know.
STEVE: I don't think so. [laughs] And for fun what do you do, when you do get time for fun, what do you do? What do you like to do, Zac? I know you guys like to roller blade.
ZAC: Yeah, we roller blade, we like video games. We see movies, things like that.
ISAAC: Basketball.
TAYLOR: We draw.
ISAAC: Basketball, soccer.
TAYLOR: Street hockey. And you know, anything that anyone does. You just go hang out with your friends…
ISAAC: Yeah.
STEVE: Is it hard to keep friends these days? I mean, I know who your true friends are?
ISAAC: You know the thing is the friends -
ZAC: True friends are always true friends.
ISAAC: Yeah, you know, they're - our friends are always- have stuck around and have been our friends since we were really little. I mean, you know, we have friends that you know, known since we were - since I was born, you know, and things like that.
TAYLOR: And any of your friends, friends that are your really good friends, they'll always be, so...
ISAAC: But you'll always be - have the occasional person that kind of goes "hey, how's it going?" and you're like "I didn't know you, who are you?" You know? Someone that you're like acquainted with like you've met one time before and they all the sudden act like they're your best friend and you're like "uhh...oops."
STEVE: So any plans for you, for college at all?
ISAAC: You know, I mean we're preparing for college when it comes around and I mean, whether we do it or not I guess is kind of up in the air, you know. Music is really what I want to do, you know, that's the important thing.
TAYLOR: How much better of a job could you possibly get than - I mean, even if, even if you did go to college, that's - how much better of a job could you get?
ISAAC: No kidding.
TAYLOR: But education, education is really important, so...
STEVE: And Thanksgiving is coming up here this week, so ya'll gonna be home for Thanksgiving? What do you usually do? What kind of traditions?
ZAC: [funny voice] hrr, we won't tell you! [laughs]
STEVE: What was that?!
TAYLOR: We're going to the Bahamas; we're gonna leave.
STEVE: Are you really? Are you gonna go on vacation to the Bahamas?
TAYLOR: Well the thing is we can't really - we gotta keep it a secret where we're gonna go, yanno?
STEVE: I see.
TAYLOR: So we could be going anywhere.
STEVE: Okay, anywhere.
ZAC: We could be going home, we could be going to the Bahamas, we could be going to Alaska!
ISAAC: Yeah, it doesn't really matter.
STEVE: And tell me about the Christmas special that's coming up.
ISAAC: There is a Christmas special on ABC.
ZAC: It's not exactly a Christmas special, though; it's more of a Hanson special.
STEVE: So, it's a holiday special.
ISAAC: Yeah, it's a holiday special. I mean, basically you know we're just doing stuff for a half an hour and we do -
TAYLOR: It's a Christmas theme.
ISAAC: Yeah, it's a Christmas theme at the end.
TAYLOR: So it's really, it has a theme in it but you'll have to watch it to find out what it is. But you know, that's the day after Thanksgiving.
ZAC: Some people will get the themes and some people won't.
STEVE: Well, you know I told Taylor the other day on the phone everything I've read that you guys say its cool to like your parents and you said something the other day, I don't even know if you realized it when I said "are your parents kind of tough on you?" And you said "you know, they know what they're doing" That's so great to hear a message like that and I want to leave you knowing that Friday on the air we auctioned off the last four tickets to come to this event today for the Children's Starlight Foundation and we raised $26,000. So there's actually -
ISAAC: We actually heard the, heard about that - that's incredible.
TAYLOR: That's pretty phenomenal, I mean, thank you for - whoever bought those tickets, that's pretty amazing.
STEVE: Well, they're out there so thank you guys.
ZAC: [funny voice] Thank you!
ISAAC: Thank you.
STEVE: Happy holidays guys.
ALL: Thanks.
STEVE: And good luck in the future.
ISAAC: All right.
