It's Damien; Kelly, Stacy, and Erica from California, they were downstairs, big Hanson fans, we brought them upstairs from downstairs and they want to see Hanson. We gotta give them what they want and everyone… you guys ready for Hanson? These guys have been around for a while; this is their official return to TRL. This is Hanson.
DAMIEN: Some window love.
TAYLOR: Hey guys!
ZAC: How you doing?
DAMIEN: I'm great!
TAYLOR: They love you!
DAMIEN: It is not me! It is not me!
TAYLOR: Oh my God! Your fans are insane.
DAMIEN: It is not the guy that makes $9.75 an hour. I guarantee that. You guys look great. You guys look really good.
ISAAC: Thank you.
DAMIEN: You're all grown up and stuff, it's been a while since we've had you here on the show.
ISAAC: It's been like four years!
DAMIEN: It's been six years cos we actually rolled back, we did some research, we have some footage of you guys. You were the first TRL guest hosts!
TAYLOR: That is true.
DAMIEN: Let's take a little look here. Here's some footage…
ISAAC: Oh yeah.
DAMIEN: How about that? Do you remember? You do remember that.
ISAAC: Yeah, in fact I think we did it two days in a row.
DAMIEN: How was that, it was fun, right?
ISAAC: It was fun! It was fun, it was good, it was spontaneous, just having a good time with it.
TAYLOR: You guys always a good time on the show, we have fun with these [points to crowd]. That's what it's all about.
ZAC: It's a pretty easy show, the fans pretty much do it themselves. You just tell what they said.
TAYLOR: We just let them host it.
ZAC: They vote, you tell the people what they voted for.
DAMIEN: Everyone knows I'm an idiot, it's no big deal.
ALL: No, no, no, no!!
ISAAC: He rocks!
DAMIEN: I don't do anything! So listen, let's do a little history. You guys were all living together in Tulsa in Oklahoma. That must have been interesting. You move to New York, New York City. You're all still living together.
TAYLOR: No we're not, actually, I'm married actually, I'm married with a baby, so we…
DAMIEN: So you move out, Taylor moves out with the wife and the baby.
TAYLOR: Well that does, you know, naturally happen.
DAMIEN: Sure. And how's that? When you were all living together in New York City and you had the wife and the baby. Was that interesting?
ISAAC: Well, it's just one of those things. You know, you're in a band together, you spend a lot of time together anyway, so I guess it's just another day in the life a little bit.
TAYLOR: Really what it is, we just started an independent record company and we moved, we kind of came to New York, we said, "we're gonna launch this thing" and kind of do it the right way.
DAMIEN: Right, 3CG.
TAYLOR: 3CG.
DAMIEN: The record label, it's going really amazing things for you. And it's a big change, too, to go from Tulsa, Oklahoma to New York City.
ZAC: Well, we've spent a lot of time in New York City, you know, like you were saying about hosting TRL.
DAMIEN: Well I see you guys out all the time. You were at the Ben Jelen party, the Ben Kweller party; apparently you like to go to parties with men who have names of Ben.
ISAAC: Ben Folds, you know, everybody!
ZAC: Next it's Ben Harper.
TAYLOR: This is such a great city, not only for starting a record company or something like that, but also for music. Somebody like Ben Kweller who's a friend or Ben Jelen… it's about great music.
DAMIEN: Well, we're going to talk to you guys a lot more. It's great to have you here; it's great to have you back. Hanson, everybody, another round of applause. More with them coming up in a bit. First we have to get back to the countdown. Another artist who got big at a really young age, Avril Lavigne is at #8. This is "Don't Tell Me," check it out.

VANESSA: Absolutely.

DAMIEN: We're just chatting here. Here with Hanson. Let's kind of recap. You mentioned that you left the label, you formed 3CG, and then the new album, Underneath, it drops tomorrow. It's in stores tomorrow.
ZAC: And we're going to be next door at Virgin Megastore tomorrow.
TAYLOR: Yeah, we're going to be doing a big in-store right next door so that everybody downstairs, to all you guys downstairs and everybody here…
DAMIEN: Very nice. And what musically is different from this album compared to your last album?
TAYLOR: Well every album is different. I think you're kind of are always pushing and pulling and trying to obviously grow. We collaborated with a lot of cool people like Matthew Sweet, we wrote the title track "Underneath" with him.
ISAAC: Gregg Alexander from the New Radicals. That was really cool.
TAYLOR: Just a lot of great people. Our friend Michelle Branch sat in on a song, which was really cool.
DAMIEN: Yeah, "Deeper," right?
TAYLOR: Yes!
DAMIEN: And then I heard she played with you on tour, you let her play on tour.
TAYLOR: Well, the way we came to know Michelle is she was an independent artist, she was working her way up, she came to open for us and got signed and…
DAMIEN: This was a while ago.
TAYLOR: This was four years ago, when we were on the last tour. On the second album.
ISAAC: 3 million copies later…
TAYLOR: 3 million copies later, give it up. Give it up for Michelle.
DAMIEN: That's great. And Taylor, the new video for this is called "Penny & Me" and you've got---I don't want to mess this up. Samire? Samire?
TAYLOR: Samire.
ISAAC: Samire Armstrong.
DAMIEN: Samire Armstrong, that's what it is. From The O.C., obviously.
TAYLOR: Yeah, she's amazing.
DAMIEN: So you're fans of hers?
TAYLOR: You know, we were trying to find, you know, the song "Penny & Me" is just all about the way music kind of weaves in and out of your life, the people that weave in and out of your life, and it was so hard to find a person to call "Penny," to kind of encapsulate that.
ZAC: To embody everything.
TAYLOR: Yeah. She just has such an attitude, you know.
DAMIEN: Like a Penny Lane…
TAYLOR: Yeah, it actually originally came from that. That was obviously the most famous Penny.
DAMIEN: Sure, The Beatles. That was good stuff. All right, if you look outside there are a ton of people out there. Crazy Hanson fans. Go over to the window and let's pick some people to come up.
TAYLOR: Say "hello."
DAMIEN: …to come up to the studio, cos you got to give back to the fans. They've got tons of signs. I really haven't seen this many signs in a long time. So maybe you want to find an interesting sign.
TAYLOR: Yeah, we should definitely find a good sign. We got people that came from anywhere… "Zac kicks ass!"
DAMIEN: You want to bring him up?
TAYLOR: I'm worried about that guy though, I don't know.
DAMIEN: Okay, don't want to scare ya.
TAYLOR: "We Love Hanson," that's a pretty nice one right there.
DAMIEN: Okay, you want to bring them up? You guys with the "We Love Hanson" sign, come on up. All right, we're going to bring them up, we'll get them up in just a second, more to come with Hanson. We actually have a little surprise; you guys have a surprise in store for us, don't you?
ZAC: A little surprise, we can't say anything yet.
DAMIEN: Keep it under wraps. We'll do that when TRL returns. Trust me, you're not going to want to miss it. Hang out.
